Yes we do. He's shown nothing to suggest he's going to ever win an election. Until he does then the question remains. 25% in the polls is not good. Even if he's actually on 30% in reality (more likely imo), that's still not good at all.

He got 40% two years ago. Who do you think would do better than he would?

He got 40 in a 2 party election. We'll have LDs and brexit party in this one. He'll get 30 at best. Tories high 30s at best.

That's a very tough question. Maybe Starmer. But I don't really know the ranks and there's not many stand outs on the front bench.

... and yet you were able to say "any half credible opposition would be running away with it"?

Yes indeed. The fact there are no stand outs in the shadow cabinet is why they are not credible to me.

There's a lack of credible politicians out there full stop at the minute.

Which kind of makes the original point a bit moot, doesn't it? Corbyn is rubbish, anyone could do better than him - well, not anyone because I can't think of anyone that is credible.

Any half credible opposition would be running away with it. Polls over the last fortnight have a ten point lead.

They may well be wrong, but even if they are a bit out, the point stands that labour should be walking an upcoming election. But I see no way they can win.

Depends if you believe Brexit is the most important political for seventy years, if not it's valid point, otherwise double think.

I know you have strong feelings towards Corbyn but the point is valid. He is Marmite. If they got someone who was a bit more 'magnolia' that doesn't have such strong views* or does not share them with the public at least, then you possibly wouldn't be instantly switching off one half of the voters. *I'm not saying it is wrong to hold these views, they are very decent after all.

There are lots of people that don't like the idea of strikes, they don't want to think about using a bus/train/health service and finding that they can't or it's bare bones that day. The Tories will play up to a vote for Labour could cause us to lose our nuclear capability, even though this would be wrong as the party have overruled. But the genie is out of the bottle.

So basically Labour will sweep their areas and the tories theirs and never the twain shall meet. The only variable is how much the LDs and Brexit party eat into that vote and take the odd seat.

And if they had would it have been reported fairly in the media therefore affecting people's voting intentions?
No, didn't think ao.
Probably not but at the latest count the Tories are 12% ahead of Labour despite all the carry-on. I suggest Corbyn's lack of appeal has a lot to do with that.

It isn't valid, though.

Firstly, for the argument to be valid it requires that there is someone who could come in and do better than he has - something which those who propose the argument rarely elaborate on.

Secondly, that second paragraph of yours illustrates exactly why Corbyn is seen as a Marmite politician; many people hear him (or others) talk about an issue and then ignore everything they actually hear, everything they actually experience and prefer instead to believe what the papers tell them. Labour talking about fixing the NHS? Well that must mean they will be rationing medicine and burning down hospitals to heat water for refugee jacuzzis.

I have no doubt that there's a number of Labour politicians who have proven competence in some fields, who do not have Corbyn's record of sympathy with some very unpleasant groups, and who are still left wing enough to satisfy most Labour Party members. Maybe you're right, and they don't exist, but I doubt that myself.

You have no doubt, but you can't actually name any of them in your post. Or suggest why they would get better coverage in the press than Corbyn does.
