so Williamson has been suspended despite apologising for saying the Labour Party have been too apologetic for the alleged anti-semitism in its ranks.

Williamson has now been branded as anti-semitic himself, thus his case joins the ranks of the 'anti-semitism' within the Labour Party.

Franz Kafka would feel so inspired if he were still around today.

With the media eager to jump on anything to do with this, Labour MPs need to be more careful. I can understand why he’s been suspended. Labour can’t be seen to allow a rejection of the anti Semitic narrative from an MP.
It's McCarthyism. You dont allow the pursecutors to introduce and maintain a climate of fear and shut down free speech for the sake of quietism.

I was in the LP for a few years and never witnessed any hint of anti-Semitism.

Objecting to Israel's treatment of the Palestinian people isn't anti-Semitic. It's the only reasonable stance to take.
It’s a funny thing. I know a few active members of the LP who have also never witnessed nor would accept any antisemitism. To be honest, they rarely talk about Israel or even foreign policy for that matter. The main issues of concern are the public funding cuts which the Conservative party have implemented. If you’re dealing with people day to day who’ve had benefit cuts, are in rent arrears, are having to use food parcels you’re not going to really be focussed on Israel or an anti Jewish agenda. It’s all a distraction

I think Corbyn was too slow to scotch the story when it first appeared. It's been allowed to fester and it's distracted the Party from the basics.

I don’t disagree but Labour won’t win this anti semitism debate by arguing against it. They need to try to claim back the morale high ground.

Get shut of all the MPs who have been responsible for the charges and let them do their accusations from outside the party would make this utter canard go away VERY quickly.

But Corbyn is too much focussed on not scaring the horses for fear it'll destroy the LPs election chances. I say "bollocks to the next election". This reckoning cant be delayed. The interlopers into the LP will always be there destroying any left wing policy at their whim. Just get this battle out of the way once and for all. The Blairite free market lot who stole the LP had that fight with the LP left in the 80s and won decisivley. Time for Corbyn and McDonnell to pay that compliment back and blow-torch these free market loving Tory-lite barnacles off the hull.

Labour will never win an election without the centre vote though. It’s not just about the next election. They would never win again unless it swung back the other way.

And getting shut of all MPs that talk about the anti Semitic issue within the party would definitely not make the problem go away.

Labour won a massive amount of votes back from the Tories in the last election by ditching centerist policies...the kind that Brown and Milliband got pummelled adopting. The debate over left policies damaging the LP is over. The biggest thing that damages them is internal fighting. That has to end with the left routing yesterday's men and woment. They're out of time. History. They just need to be dispatched, and really should have been a couple of years ago.

Get the Blairites out and into their new party.

Labour may have gained votes, but not mainly from the Tories. They increased their vote in numbers and percentage terms.

This is the crux of the matter for me. I´m certain the overwhelming majority of Labour members joined to fight for a better country. I sure as hell don´t see a party that can be labelled as institutionally racist, for me it couldn´t be further from the truth. I want our kids to have the best start in life, I don´t want to see school budgets slashed, I don´t want to see our NHS torn apart, I don´t want to see anyone discriminated against for whatever reason, I don´t want to see our country partake in illegal wars... The list could go on and on.

What doesn´t feature on the list is antisemitism. Do the media seriously believe that one of the biggest political parties in the western world is built around a hatred of Jews? Of course they don´t but it´s an allegation they love because it´s gained momentum and has the potential to crush a movement that challenges the status quo.

Meanwhile, all this happening and you´ve got the architect of the Windrush scandal dancing her way towards taking the country to the oblivion. It should be on the front page of the newspapers every day, as well being headline news on the BBC what the Tories have done and are doing to people´s lives yet barely a whisper because apparently antisemitism is rife in the Labour Party.

More fool us pandering towards them and the media like it will make a blind bit of difference. We´ve now reached the point where they, the actual party full of bigots are lecturing us on racism. You really couldn´t make it up.

it's a shame someone like Jonathan Freedland (who calls himself a "liberal zionist") decides the editorial stance at The Guardian. He effectively threatened Corbyn with this hit-piece, implying the paper would resume their aggressive anti-Corbyn stance if he does not suspend Williamson right away.

The barely-hidden subtext of the piece is quite chilling, but then that's liberal zionism for you:

Labour doesn’t have zero tolerance of antisemitism if Chris Williamson is an MP. It’s clear that the party should remove the whip from the MP, who claimed it was too apologetic to the Jewish community. If the Labour party fails to make that move, then it will have passed judgment on itself – and that judgment will be damning.

Freedland is advertised as being a mere columnist, but he's the shadow editor, often writing the anonymous editorials which form the paper's official line. This hitpiece naturally wasn't open for comments.

And return to opposing the eu as corbyn and his acolytes always have. Bye bye general election.

There's a reason Morning Star has a readership of 10,000 and the Guardian in the millions. This vision of a socialist utopia just isn't that popular.

That new party is polling at 14%, Labour have 26%. I wonder where most of the votes are coming from? And if it keeps going at that rate then Labour might find themselves sitting over by the SNP and Lib Dems.

Inclusivity and love will do more for Labour than cutting and hate. Just bonkers to think otherwise.
