Again, I don't have a problem at all with his point- like you I broadly agree with it. I have a problem with the racism. And that's what it was - clear as day racism.

Like I said, no idea if Lammy has read this or other works like it, but there is a long history of race being a explicit and subsequently implicit part of western aid.

That new party is polling at 14%, Labour have 26%. I wonder where most of the votes are coming from? And if it keeps going at that rate then Labour might find themselves sitting over by the SNP and Lib Dems.

Inclusivity and love will do more for Labour than cutting and hate. Just bonkers to think otherwise.
They're not a party; they stand no candidates; if they ever do they'll put forward the rejected politics and ideology of Blairism.

...that's why they're not - and never will be - a political party.

And return to opposing the eu as corbyn and his acolytes always have. Bye bye general election.

There's a reason Morning Star has a readership of 10,000 and the Guardian in the millions. This vision of a socialist utopia just isn't that popular.
You appear to be equating the Morning Star readership numbers with socialist policies.

Strange.

I will concede the point that they may never become an actual party if it stays how it is, but stranger things have happened before.

As for rejection of Blairism, where/when was it rejected? He won 3 terms and never lost an election. He actually wanted more progressive policies but was blocked by Brown just because of his power play for the leadership. What did for the Labour party was Brown as leader and the taint of the Iraq war and even then it wasn't a huge rejection as it took a coalition to turf them out.

Labour then decided to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Iraq war, slightly more than a "taint".

And so it continues... If you feed the beast it doesn't stop, it only grows. Labour are completely wasting their time trying to appease these people. Unless they start to fight back they're ruined.

Every time the Tories or their mates at the Daily Mail/BBC bring up antisemitism there should be a robust response saying we will not take lectures on racism by the architects of it in our society.
It's game over I'm afraid, they have allowed themselves to be painted into a corner by the right wing press.

Sorry mate, are you being serious?

I should really just bite my tongue... but imagine claiming to understand Orwell's analysis of political language... while fancying oneself a 'centrist'.

lollollol

That's an all time classic

what are you saying? to understand Orwell you have to have the same political beliefs he did? that's just plain stupid for several reasons:

- Orwell died in 1949. His lessons about politics might be timeless, but his era of defined left/right/centrism is different to how it's defined now...time moves the goalposts. We see this just in the last 5 years where many lifelong lefties (like myself) now feel less defined by that label. Many of us are free-thinkers, even the label "centrist" doesn't really cut it.

- Orwell would be labelled a centrist today, tho' of course he was a free-thinker more than anything.

- to limit yourself to only understanding politics you agree with is one of the biggest problems we have.

Btw, is it rooted in his analysis of cliché?

eh?

that aggressive language is insane: vile, hateful, furious, storm...storm in a teacup more like.

how skinny that model's legs are is more of a scandal.

Take your post for example. The most bullied person in British politics, at least based on abuse in print, in person and online, is Dianne Abbott (with Corbyn himself not that far behind).

It's actually Boris Johnson & Theresa May...or rather, it depends which study from which thinktank you read.
