It absolutely is. If you are saying that it’s ok for him to say that Jewish people need to speak out about what the Israeli state is doing, that is exactly like asking a random Jewish person to condemn the actions of another country. It’s wrong,

No, you’re completely changing the context. A statement on Twitter like that is more of a rallying cry to help with the plight of Palestinian people and i’ve already said that Hatton should’ve said ‘people of Israel’ rather than Jews.

If an Everton fan on twitter urged Evertonians to condemn our players spitting at others I wouldn’t take any offence to that. I’d agree.

All this reminds me of it being racist to talk about immigration during the Brexit debate. Are we supposed to just shrug our shoulders and turn a blind eye at what is happening in Palestine and Jerusalem. Is it bigoted toward Saudi Arabia if their actions in Yemen are denounced?

Russian isn't a race or religion, but let's take that example and say they were - it'd be wrong because Russians are entitled to form an independent thought and not be dismissed as lacking humanity if they did.

It's straight up anti-Semitism by definition, there's no way to sugarcoat it. It doesn't matter what your view on Israel is; you should be able to separate the nation from the religion.

The fact that you're having such a job even debating this shows what problems the Labour party has on this issue.
