You have to worry about the outcome of the next election.

I know its only just been over 6 months in charge for the current Government but the optics are not great. This is due in most cases to misleading stories and the concerted effort of the right wing press and its attacks on certain people.

The average man on the street doesn't dig into the detail and will believe headlines such as the vote the other week which in peoples minds stopped a national inquiry into Grooming gangs. It was clever politics and the media are fueling the outrage.

The constant stories about Reeves and the continued character assassination with a classic bit of misogyny thrown in for good mix have people thinking she is a complete fool.

The attacks won't stop, they will grow and grow and become more absurd. I removed myself from Twitter after the Southport murders and made an effort to ignore the news for other than work related stuff via Linkedin. The last few weeks a lot of anti Starmer and Labour posts have been popping up on Linkedin and its becoming more frequent.

I've been based in Teesside for nigh on two decades and the majority of people are not fans of Tories and the Labour party currently. A lot of quite intelligent people who i speak with via work and voted Labour at the last election are saying they won't vote for them next time now and also won't vote Tory. The gap in the market is pointing towards Reform.

People will write and stamp their feet about social care reform or Net zero etc.

However, Labour don't hit the targets they have outlined, or come remotely close to hitting them, in half of their 6 milestones then they're toast.

Essentially most people and in this order, want more money on their pockets, to be seen by a Dr or consultant in good time and be able to buy a house. If none of those happen or are even close to happening then they'll be voted out. Simples!

Live by the sword, die by the sword and all that. They've asked to be judged on their milestones becuase that all that really matters when attaining/retaining power and that's what most people will hold them to.

The indications its the Liberals that will continue to grow their base. Was some interesting polling political podcast were dissecting about closer ties with EU, even Clacton seat now has majority support for closer union with EU over Trump America.

I was worried about Reform getting any traction, but going by figures like this, it’s hardly a tsunami of swing to them.

The fact that they get so much attention in the media is the real issue. There were as many independents as seats they got in July.

There does seem to be a bit of disconnect between their results and some specific polling that gives them high % (but nowhere near a majority).

Does Farage do any legwork in the locals? If the whole thing is largely a cult of personality around him then perhaps they'll struggle to get anyone enthused for things like councils. Or maybe it is just all smoke and mirrors and the intense media focus on them that makes it all look a lot more popular than it really is (and social media outriders amplifying things)..

I reckon the candidates they accepted that turned out to be hardened criminals, edl and bnp members previous, and then idiots shouting their mouths off about shooting boats and people in them had more impact against reform than they would admit. Who wants to be associated with such vermin?

[big micky H on politics live now, still one of my favourite 'fat sam' tweets]

I spoke to a business owner nearby yesterday, he was complaining about not being busy enough, (he owns a building, sells tat out of a shop on street level, 2 flats above he rents) he explained how he is fearful in the next 6 months that there will be extreme joblessness because of 'the current bunch'. He went further, saying government shouldn't be talking the country down. I pointed out that the bank fiasco of 2008 still had to be faced and paid for. He couldn't help himself fast enough, "you've got to forget all that, and brexit and covid, got to start dealing with now, instead of talking the country down", 'who's talking the country down?' "the current labour lot, all they do is say how much money we don't have..." 'spending beyond our means got us in this mess', "yeah but you've got to be positive, attract investment, talking the country down is scaring investors away", "you'll see, in six months, we'll all be knackered, but at least we're not living in tin shacks eh!" then he fecked off.

Were these people (property owners, business owners) actually better off under the tory circus?

Shoes on the other foot now so they can come out and blame 6 months of labour for 15 years of mistakes and 5 PMs under Tory rule.

Mad me laugh seeing that biff from Brew Dog blaming the fact the government has put in place inexperience in departments like Business rather than people with experience.

Didn't see him pipe up when Rees Mogg, Grant Shaps or Alok Sharma swapped and changed charge quicker than I changed my undies.

He's an absolute rocket, that Brewdog guy. Can't believe anyone still drinks the pish they churn out.

I think if you look at the NI rise and the increase to minimum wage , which leads to follow on rises to supervisors etc , then a small to medium business with say 40/50 staff is looking at over £100k which is a pretty big chunk . If you factor in business which are heavy on energy costs then it’s not been a great few months .

I say this as a supporter of the Labour Party , personally I’d have liked to have seen the NI applied to larger employers .

That she’s not only continued have a career in journalism but has improved it - despite betraying a source (resulting in the source being imprisoned), betraying a source by looting his diaries (Hancock), releasing a story about a PM without any proof whatsoever (Cameron and the pig) and tried to cover up a massive story that she didn’t like the politics of (Banks and Wigmore of Leave.EU’s connections to Russia) - says everything about the state of modern British journalism.

brexit supporting, lock down rule breaking, richard tice shagging, tory strumpet on the very wrong side of 30. a shambles how this person has any career at all, let alone commenting on politics and being allowed on tv.

It's some going she has the audacity to refer to anyone else as 'deranged'. A toxic bellend.
