Very sensible statement from the NhS.“The NHS has warned people not to go out early in the morning or late at night as the country braces for three days of snow.
It has also urged people to stock up on food and medication amid warnings over the risks to health as temperatures plummet over the next week.
In the West Midlands, the NHS Black Country integrated care board warned of the dangers of slips, trips and falls.
“Avoid going out early in the morning when frost is thick or late at night when it’s dark,” it said, adding that people should wear shoes with good grip and keep their hands free to stabilise themselves.
In Herefordshire, the Wye Valley NHS Trust told people to “make sure you have sufficient food and medicine and take measures to reduce draughts in your home”. George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust, in Nuneaton, issued the same advice.
The alert, in force from midday on Thursday until next Wednesday warns of a rise in deaths among people aged 65 and over or with health conditions. Younger age groups could also be affected, with a “likely increase” in demand for health services.
The agency has warned the vulnerable will be put at risk as it becomes difficult to keep homes at 18C (64F) with sub-zero temperatures outside. Temperatures in hospitals and care homes will fall below recommended levels, while transport is also likely to suffer.”
….at least the pensioners will have their government WFA to enable them to leave the heating on…Oh no, wait, our man on holiday in Madeira has done away with it……
Very sensible statement from the NhS.
Anybody frozen to death yet? Nope thought not.
You are like a real, living and breathing Daily Mail.
Nah they’d laugh because they aren’t collosal bell ends like you.And you are what?…an idiot, a parrot for Starmer, someone who has ditched what Labour is supposed to stand for, or just unbelievably crass with your ‘anyone frozen to death yet’ comment. You should share your views with your parents who no doubt would be ashamed of you…..
Here we go cross party too, going to be interesting to see how it's funded, up skilling workforce to releave pressure's on NHS... Should be sooner but it's going to be contentious because of funding, would have ring fenced social care tax myself from moment you start work much like NI. With scope to further the tax on older people near or retired moving into retirement arears in the UK where services are much less and more stretched, findings set for election year... Politcally astute timing for plan.
