Local press in Madeira say he's there for some well-deserved R&R. Sterling job so far, 2025 can only heap more successes onto the burgeoning 2024 pile.

If you thought you'd seen Socialism in Action already, just wait until he really gets going.
Are we in some alternative universe where his brother didn't die 5 days ago? The last few posts make it sound like he's on an 18/30 boozing it up on an inflatable banana. It's quite possible that he's in a bit of a mess. Whatever people might think of him, a bit of sympathy might be the order of the day.

I dunno about this. A lot of european trends show an increasing amount of young people influenced by the far right,
No doubt there is a section of young people who are hostile to immigration anti woke who will vote on these issues, sure there numbers have increased. If governments don’t provide social security good jobs and a place to live that doesn’t cost more than 50% of your income every month then the Reform will continue to rise. Was only few years ago this same demographic was all "Environmental", they have upped sticks and moved right, a very volatile vote base for Reform to pin hopes on.

The Liberal Democrats might well be the real opposition and not Farage. People learned how to vote tactically at the last election, so if things go as I expect the Liberal Democrats might become the official opposition at the next election, with Labour having a smaller majority.

Farage faces the same problem as the Tories, older right wing voters are dying off and not nearly enough younger people are turning right wing.
The Lib Dems need to have some clear policies on their manifesto by the time the next election comes. At the last election I went through their manifesto and it was very light on what they proposed to do - they improve and offer a thought out alternative to Labour and Conservatives, they should do much better.

I don't see what's unsympathetic about hoping he manages a bit of rest & relaxation away from the stresses of his office at what could be a very difficult time for him personally and no idea where the quoted part of your post came from, even at the best of times I don't think anyone expects that a Starmer holiday would look like that.

Clearly he's made the decision to go on a break after a short pause for his brother and I don't blame him one bit, we had a short Highlands holiday booked that ended up being about a week after my father died, my mum insisted we still go on it and it turned out to be a great idea as I was able to find a bit of peace rather than have friends & colleagues fussing all over me.

It wasn't specifically aimed at your post but rather the general theme, which appeared to be in response to Dave's puerile accusations that he's buggering off all the time and not working for the country, with the response almost revelling in his time away as though him off on a jolly would wind Dave up nicely.

TBF he’s got a lot of relationships to attempt to repair after the last 15 years. Especially in Europe

“This process of renewal will be a long-term project. Things may be bumpy along the way, but the party I now lead is going to do things differently. Watch this space.

This'll go well...

Just put yourselves in the bin and call another election FFS.
so you want another GE which obviously isn’t going to happen.

But if it did, it would mean we would be possibly under the leadership of the Tory’s again or the ridiculous Reform party.

You know this, let us all know which of the two parties you are pining for to lead the country out of this post Tory tenure of terror.

Are you wanting the Tory’s back Dave? Or are you now really revealing your true colours as a Reform Party fan?
