The appeal of centre left and indeed centre right politics far outstrips that of the far left.

It's a silent majority that isn't screaming into the Twitter echo chamber. The average working and middle class family where Corbyn's appeal to them is minimal.

That is largely because for the vast majority of the time politicians and the media spend all their time telling them what centrism is and what Corbyn wants.

It isn't based on any reality - take the latest labelling of him as a communist for example - but repeat it enough and look how far it spreads; so far today we have had it on GoT, at Health Questions in the Commons, as the favourite meme of the #FBPE crowd, in a load of vox pops and now in Joan Ryan's resignation statement (in which she calls the clique around him "Stalinist").

Those policies aren't the sole domain of the hard left.

I think all of those things should be nationalised too. But the difference is I'd add the caveat "if possible without bankrupting the country and risking jobs."

That's the key - 'normal' people just want someone who isn't a complete loon to get on with being PM. They go for the sensible; the competent.

Tell me this - why are Labour's policies popular but Jeremy Corbyn is massively unpopular in every poll you care to look at? Are you really just going to blame the media for that, or be prepared to look at it properly and analyse why?

The thing is Tubey that they actually are the sole domain of the "hard left". Who else in England is calling for rail nationalization?

Joan Ryan: any chance she'll hand the good people of Enfield North the chance to vote in a Labour MP as they wished for?

No, I dont suppose she will. The 'kin rat.

We have got rid Chuka you still have your careerist well imbedded in the Tory Party AKA Boris Johnson.

Just reminder of Chukas other faces, for those supporting his cough convictions.

Those who laugh last, laugh the loudest.

Indeed. Personally I find this guy a vain nonentity of a politician. Not only is Labour well shut of him, but I’d like to see him turfed out of Parliament completely......

Loads of people. Me. Most people actually.

But again its about doing it if possible, not just ideologically driven at it.

It's the same as saying let's give 350m to the NHS. Everyone wants that, but you need a solid plan to do it or it's just fantasy politics.

If only it were more than that..

It seems the shedding of the neo-cons came to a halt today.

Shame. There needs to be another 30-40 slung out before it becomes the real Labour Party again.

Hopefully the dregs have another press conference in mind to parade the rest of their ilk.

It happens. The damage has not been the nonentities who have left, but the messages they have communicated, this will be the long lasting damage......

Sorry, I'll rephrase that. "Which other political party in England is calling for rail nationalization".

It will be damaging, but then again these are comments they've all made repeatedly in the past, in public and often in his presence.

The message is amostky about anti-semitism. Now I;m not being cruel here, but no one is really arsed in day to day life about so called anti-semitism...they just aren't.

I';m happy to see the next election (which will be soon now IMO) go to the Tories. They'll suffer the Brexit era and own it, and Labour candidates will get the quick chance to put these neo-cons who just jumped ship in the bin where they belong.

The LP left need time to get the bloodletting done. Once the bulk of the Blairites are out then a real LP will re-emerge.

It's a battle that needed fighting two years ago. But there;'s no time like the present.
