Sure I've said they will probably lose their jobs. I don't see any of them being re-elected and I respect them for showing conviction despite that fact.
The poor darlings.

As someone who defends these people and their independent behaviour explain why they should continue to hold seats and be paid as elected members of the Labour party?

I guess for the same reason that we dont have a bye election when the Labour Party, or any other one for that matter, removes the party whip from an MP. Same thing if you think about it.

The new way of doing politics is their mantra, still happy to the old political monies, funny sort of conviction people have these days.

Aye. Havnt got a dog in this fight, but folk with way more charisma and profile than this lot have tried a "New sort of politics" many times before.

Corbyn, McDonnel, Skinner and the various other very left wing blokes in the party weren't deselected during the Blair years were they?

I stand corrected - https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1455783/Show-trials-to-axe-MPs-disloyal-to-Blair.html

They are Bob Marshall-Andrews, who has voted against the party whip 51 times since the 2001 election; John McDonnell, with 79 votes against; Jeremy Corbyn, 87; Lynne Jones, 57; Diane Abbott 36; and Mike Wood, 25.

So in three years, Corbyn voted against the Labour government 87 times, or around once every 10 days. I suppose what goes around.

Lots of talk of Tories joining the group this morning. Toxic mix. Even though they fundamentally agree on everything they will have a hard time drawing up policies to appease everyone in the group. The Tory defectors will want centre right ideas and the Labour group will want to at least create the perception they are centre left.
That's all it'll be - talk.

This group of rightwing racists and warmongers were put together to do one thing: embarrass and undermine the LP leadership. I would be very surprised if there were any Tories involved in it. That would blunt their odious undemocratic message and agenda.

Derek Hatton has rejoined the Labour Party what do people make of that then . I was only a kid when he was around in merseyside people seem to have very mixed opinions

Depends if his views have softened I suppose. This isn't going to help Labour get elected though, people will see him for what he was and how Labour were a shambles at that time and it is just going to reinforce people's (the usual centre-right and liberal voters) views that it isn't for them.

What are you going on about it's not even comparable. Genuinely confused by your comparison because their is none. Seven MPs leaving the labour party while still being paid by the labour party to set up another party is not the same as voting against the whip.

What again! Think you will find that was last year, fake news...

'kin nerve of that mess Tom Watson telling the LP leadership to reform its ways and go for a kinder more considerate politics, a new way of doing things....the feller taking half a million quid's worth of bungs off Max Mosley.

You couldn't make it up.

Gutted today that there's been no more neo-con lemmings throwing themselves over the cliff.

We're in the eye of a storm created by a conservative putting party above the country. It's highly unlikely any others would do any different. Those tories who jumped to UKIP at least had the gumption to go through a bye-election iirc?

He makes my blood boil. He is the rightful heir to Mandy's crown, a careerist in the truest sense of the word.
