Capitalism is about wealth creation, democracy is about freedom of choice what to do with that generated wealth.

Wanna be a democratic capitalist society then those are the rules mate.
Thank you for explaining capitalism to me.

Is it capitalism to inherit vasts amount of wealth?

Is it capitalism to rely on tax avoidance in order for your business model to be viable?

Is it capitalism to rely on a cost of labour way below the level required for said labour to exist?

Is it capitalism if your business model is only viable when interest rates are artificially low?

I can only assume you haven't had the pleasure of using Lewisham Hospital lately (you may be in Mayday's catchment, which is even worse). While Google reviews aren't always a good barometer, they are universally "really" bad.

Seriously though, six months ago, the same people would most definitely have been saying public services are on their knees because of the Tories, but now a different flag is above the door, they're doing a sterling job under trying circumstances. The two can't both be true. Not picking on you, but you yourself did so in the run up to the election - https://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/threads/uk-general-election-july.119688/page-6#post-11299438

This isn't a partisan complaint or a knock on anyone working in the NHS, but we have unfortunately developed a culture whereby one's views on the public sector are shaped by one's political persuasion, with Tories thinking they're rubbish and Labour thinking they're awesome (or their relative greatness/awfulness shaped by whether "your" team is in office), such that we can't really have an honest discussion on the current state of things.
I’ve had the pleasure of being in the RUH Bath as an inpatient this week for a couple of nights with an unknown bacterial infection. Home and on the mend now, brilliant care.
I’m afraid that you have missed the point of my quote but I take your point.
Google reviews! I think they merely reinforce the point I made about personal and societal expectations.
Incidentally, I do realise that the RUH Bath, and the QHE Birmingham both of which I frequent regularly haven’t somehow transformed since the GE.

I'm glad you got things sorted mate.

….i have a 96yo Mother-in-Law who Mrs Eggs dedicates a lot of time to and has enough income to get by relatively comfortably. We have never claimed benefit on her or my wife’s behalf but with the new Winter Fuel payment qualification, I went on-line and submitted a Pension Credit claim.

Letter this morning that she’s getting £300pcm back dated to beginning of July plus now qualifies for the fuel allowance.

I know there’s a lot of publicity about pensioners losing their allowance but I’m sure there are lots like us who are now claiming PC that didn’t previously.

Biggest laugh is claiming austerity would continue it has now ended under Starmer and Reeves. And the UK has moved towards Scandinavian model of tax borrow invest. Salient facts.

They tact to right to get elected and now tacking to left to mend Britain.

Will now come down if the investment from taxes and borrowing does mend and modernise.

Austerity has ended? Tell that to pensioners dragged into fuel poverty; poor working families officially in poverty when they have more than 2 kids; people getting slung off welfare payments for disability.

That budget was for corporate Britain. It's a steroid injection for the building industry in particular.

The income tax rises to employers will also hit employees. The £1 odd onto minimum wage will lead to less hours offered to work...inevitably so because this Starmer Gang handed the employers a loophole where they could do that.

Corporate Britain needed taxing a lot more and borrowing needed to be greater if austerity were truly in the sights of Starmer's lot. The truth is they bottled it and have handed down a budget that pleases no one other than the building industry.

Inflation has been around 50% in that timeframe. I don't know how much you paid for your house but that's something to consider. It's also worth remembering that the government isn't in the business of giving you a handout if your asset declines in value, which obviously can very much happen.
Even with BofE calculator still £45000, tax free. There will be no housing crash of any significance any time soon. Unless current Conservatives or Reform somehow get into number 10.

Many many many more for one reason or another wont fall into the category where they are entitled to that payment, and they'll fall through that crack.

This seems to be getting advertised a lot on podcasts I listen to.

Podcasts which would be aimed at a younger demographic.

Seems like they’re doing all they can to get the word out there to make sure everyone can at least get what they’re entitled to.

….surprisingly quick turnaround and no follow-up enquiries following the initial claim. Pension Credit is reportedly a complicated claim but our experience was relatively straightforward.

Well done Labour.

Dave gone through the looking glass and started defending trickle-down economics now. He's been going through so much right-wing media looking angles on Starmer the lines have blurred and he's just gone full Tory... again.

No, but just like most systems, how it works in reality is completely different to how it works in practice, the sane way communism fails in the real world but in a theoretical essay without ' real people' involved it looks a system that should create a wonderful society, look at how Marxism has fared in the real world - utter disaster.

Capitalism checks all those boxes you listed when used in the real world, it's why it all happens, if you think any political party is changing that then you're a dreamer mate.
