If your business model can’t afford to pay people a minimum wage then frankly you shouldn’t be in business.

same goes for NIC. The issue is that companies want to maintain margins and squeeze everyone else.

If their model can’t absorb it then again, clear the way for businesses that are more efficient.

It’s about time we had some creative destruction.

Where is your pub ? City, Town or Village.

A quick average price check suggests that even in the North East, which tends to be cheaper, the price you are paying is a special deal or loss leader product…..

North East average prices:-

Staropramen
£4.64
Cruzcampo
£4.56
Heineken
£4.50
Stella Artois
£4.29

live in Thornton Cleveleys, the pub has been busy since I can remember when I started going in 15 years ago. Just got this off their facebook page.

Honestly...I have no doubt farming is hard work, but honestly you'd think they were living in some kind of hellscape and they are doing it all out of the goodness of their hearts to feed us all

Don’t think I’ve ever seen a poor farmer. Die hard Tory hypocrites just crying because they have to pay a bit tax on their multi million pound estates. Sod them and tax dodging greedy businesses who were quick to raise prices above inflation but not pay workers their due. You the know the types. Artisan cafes charging £9 for a flap jack.

If one of my locals follows this pattern, it’ll take the price of a pint, which currently stands at a fiver, to close to 6 quid, which will see it shut.

It’s already opening on reduced hours - shutting at 9pm or earlier during the week and 10.30pm Friday / Saturday.

Pre pandemic it was open from 12.00 - 12.00 and doing a healthy trade.

It’s a Punch pub too, so undoubtedly the rises will be bigger.

The only reason it’s still open as far as I can see, is that the licensee is sub letting the living quarters above the pub on the sly.
Nail on the head the Pandemic ruined the economy!
Now to get the cronies who made billions out of it ......nice to see Labour has a new fraud position in the government!

Indeed, demanding that the state prop up his failing business.

I do feel sorry for his staff, moreso than he could likely comprehend.

Empathy, man.
Such a natural concept to most but somehow alien to those lacking and 'kin creepy when they try to exhibit it, especially on forums like this.
