so putting aside the rights and wrongs of this situation was fascinates me is how poor labour are at controlling the narrative of stories. Like a manager close to home they seem completely reactive rather than proactive. I don’t even just mean this incident , whether it’s being out of power so long but they seem to be slow to get ahead of things or maybe I’m just used to the Tory lie , lie, walk it back tactic .

Accounts vary as to the circumstances behind this assault but if he’s 100% the aggressor get ahead of it immediately. As seems possible and some accounts state there is an element of serious provocation or self defence at play then run that . Mp’s have been attacked even murdered , the leader of tice’s party says he can’t hold surgeries because it’s too dangerous. If this was farage the DM and social media would be lauding him as a hero . It wasn’t too many years ago John Prescott got involved in similar incident and we were told what a top bloke he was .

To be fair to them I think it was his word against the video, and he said he felt threatened with no footage of what had happened previously.

They suspended him as soon as the CCTV footage came out that showed his story definitely didn't completely add up, and I doubt they saw it before anyone else with it being sold to the papers.

Definitely know what you mean, but different times I guess, this video was around social media at the exact time Labour management will have seen it, or at least a few minutes after if the Mail did their due diligence by asking them for a quote on it. Guess social media is the difference

On balance I prefer that this is possible, because I feel that in the past it would've been easier to cover up the second video and stick with the "threatened by far right thug" narrative that I'm sure they would've preferred. At least when we get videos like this, people can make up their own minds
