Apparently from tomorrow Barclays and Halifax say they will increase the rates on various home loan deals, and this follows an increase by NatWest, Santander and TSB earlier this week…….

Inflation has been falling for the last two years btw….
after the mini budget of sept 2022 under truss, inflation rose 11.1% in October 2022, which was the highest rate in over 40 years.
Let’s not try and claim a Tory victory in bringing it down from this rate.

There absolutely is a link between obesity & mental health.

It requires far more than five a day & a good jog. These people need complete education, behavioural change, self-esteem, confidence & then being able to physically improve themselves.

There is a middle ground, you can be honest with people without kicking them down.
Clearly don't have any experience of mental health wards, your talking out of your ass as many do here on the subject for clicks. Slim jabs a job coach and well being chat, not going to get the results you and others think.

If ever anyone doubted the validity of the Red Tory tag they need to read her words.

This is right out of the Tory playbook blaming the problems of the NHS on the users of that service.

She came rock bottom of a Labour leadership race in 2015 and there's a reason for that: she's 'kin pathetic.

Apparently, this is based on some wonderful pilot scheme that Kendall likes, that has yet to release a report into if it's effective or not. So not even "best practice"...

The very last thing anyone under a section order will be concerned with is work. It shows a lack of compassion understanding and stupidity on Kendalls part and Labour government in general.

Myself accept that, with the right support in place, carefully administered, it should be possible to help some people back into work. This happens now, I often refer people to community based Job coaches.

The problem and it's a grave problem the not for fit purpose DWP will go rouge again in what appears, on all evidence, to be an indiscriminate approach that will pull all claimants into a more conditional regime, irrespective of how ill they are.

You’ve ignored everything I said because I’ve clearly stated that it won’t, so I’m not sure why you keep repeating yourself regarding jabs.

It’s quite concerning that you’re involved with mental health as a profession & you’re downplaying the link between obesity & mental health.

"However, they are now creeping back up again.

Lenders were expected to increase rates this week because Sonia swap rates - an inter-bank lending rate, based on future interest rate expectations, have been moving higher in recent weeks.

When Sonia swaps rise sufficiently it often results in fixed mortgage rates going up, and vice versa when they fall.

As of 14 October five-year swaps were at 3.8 per cent and two-year swaps were at 4.02 per cent.

This was higher than a month earlier when five-year swaps were at 3.39 per cent and two-year swaps were at 3.73 per cent.

The rise in swaps means there is little to no margin for lenders to make money, which is why some are having to re-price higher.

However, yesterday, the ONS showed inflation falling to 1.7 per cent in the 12 months to September, down from 2.2 per cent in August.

This was the first time since April 2021 that inflation has fallen below target and was below what markets forecasts of 1.9 per cent.

Some experts believe this increases the chances that the Bank of England will speed up the pace of interest rate cuts."

You know he smokes crack before posting, right?

90% of the time i have no idea what he's on about.

This obesity jab thing feels like the latest "quick win simple solution" that politicians of all stripes like.

It's fairly clear from the discussion in here that obesity, mental health and other health issues stem from a complex interaction between social context (culture, inequalities, environment), behaviour, and biology.

The MHRA have approved it and will be monitoring it Joey.

Interesting that the EMA have not approved it yet. https://www.ema.europa.eu/en/medicines/human/EPAR/ozempic

Not sure your description of how the drug works is accurate old bean. You might just need some Epson salts. Or a trip to the docs as there might be something unrelated going on.

I'm not joking on the latter point - don't confuse correlation or association with causation my man!

As said, Red Tories.

Freebies still being taken by the scum while they wreck people's lives.

Imagine having voted for that 'kin lot. The shame of it.

It's ok, Alison McGovern says they wont be carrying through the Tory plans to cut welfare benefits by £3 billion...they've looked at those plans and decided they reject them and will instead bring in their own plans to cut £3 billion off the welfare bill.

That's a relief.

She's another one to add to the Kopite Tory MP list we were discussing the other day.
