So you think that a policy, which will seriously affect a couple of million of the lowest paid people in the country, whilst producing absolutely no savings to pay for the train drivers, public servants (ha) is the correct policy. Shameful……

As has been pointed out several times to you, the people who need it will still be eligible plus their money will likely increase anyway due to pensions going up again.

It's absolutely shameful to complain about taking money from the haves while the rest of the country are have nots due to repeated cuts by the Tory party.

I believe your opposition to this is largely party rather than policy based to be honest. For shame.

We already do it, both for pensioners and people with illnesses such as dementia, which generally affects the old. The heating is put on, I light both pub fires and free tea and biscuits are provided. What do you do, asking for a pensioner….
Good stuff. All part of the big society 'mucking in' that Cameron wanted. Hugely needed that the community minded can chip in given the loss of public buildings and public spaces for people to gather.

A lot of them have fallen foul of public sector cuts.

We've gone backwards since the Tories took over in 2010. Good thing Starmer is steadying the ship rather than spending it on nice and cuddly stuff like WFA.

Think the Guardian was trolling with it’s 3 pensioner stories.

The comfortable Labour voting pensioner who didn’t need it & claims it goes charity. Supports means testing. Not a lost vote.

The “retired teacher” who claims to be on the breadline on the old better teaching pension. Ignored Tory cuts to education & family support until this time. Tastes a bit brexity.

The lifelong Tory who switched to Reform this time. Would clearly never vote Labour. Very brexity.

What was lost in this “backlash” again?
