I wonder if any socially minded individuals have thought of opening up private spaces to the public for use as "warm spaces" this winter given the loss of libraries across the UK since 2010 and also the loss of community centers.

They were quite successful in 2022.

I'm sure some of those that might have somewhere like a pub handy, who wouldn't get out of bed for a measly £300, could look into it.

We already do it, both for pensioners and people with illnesses such as dementia, which generally affects the old. The heating is put on, I light both pub fires and free tea and biscuits are provided. What do you do, asking for a pensioner….

Regardless of age, the wealthiest in society need to take more of the financial strain to get us out if the mess that Brexit and the Tories have got us into.

The fact by and large they voted for both does induce a certain amount of schadenfreude admittedly.

This is the Labour thread. They are in power now, they and yourself may not have yet twigged but now it’s all down to Labours political choices. So far it’s been not only shameful and stupid, but the death of them at the next election, all achieved in a matter of weeks…..

The tories converted a prison barge at great expense after a great outlay for it for 'illegal human beings' when they were supposedly building...

hospitals
housing
social housing
nuclear power generators
more prisons to phase out the old defunct ones

they delivered none of the above, yet lined their pals pockets with taxpayer cash all the same.
