Can you describe what this concerted effort consists of. Was it put in place before the announcement or because of the backlash…..
Claims have doubled since the announcement. So word is getting out even before the government implements specifics.

5000 additional vulnerable pensioners are making new claims to an entitlement they are owed each week. A good thing no?

And I’d question the impact of the “backlash” outside of the newspapers appealing to their Tory/Reform readers there’s a lot of support for means testing.

dyslexipeteblue is only spouting propaganda.

laugh at it, like the other pubic louse, and remind it of it's previous folly.

like boris and trump, they hate being reminded of their previous failures.

Nice try Kurt. But seriously, do you really feel comfortable with removing this money from those who may not/cannot apply or those just above this arbitrary level. I cannot believe you do, but it seems that way….
Pete the only reason you've been banging on about this for the last 3 weeks is because you havent got anything else on them. People can get this money if they need it. It's as dull as Damo in a financial thread.

What would this thread be like without our rummy nosed Tory though?

We’d all just be sitting here saying cutting benefits to rich OAPs & targeting it to the more vulnerable ones is good, even if there’s no savings, but they better go after tax avoiding companies and the very wealthy.

Boring

We could pour over proper the criminality of the last 14 years. Instead of having our time wasted by some self confessed weapons dealer I wouldn't buy a spud gun from. The trump disgrace is the exact same, and so dyslexipeteblue has been arrived at. One got a pounding like Omaha beach this year, let's hope the next one reaps the whirlwind like dresden next.

scum is scum, aligned with scum. trump scum, boris scum, racist scum, tory scum. Call scum out at every opportunity. they hate it.

No, for a couple of reasons. I do work for Age U.K. utilising the pub premises, I am also a pretty much full time carer and involved with those suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s, so I am probably a bit closer to the issue than most on here. I do happen to care for those who are really struggling and I think that this government has been shameful in its approach and application to this matter, I really wouldn’t have expected it from Labour. I would say exactly the same against whatever party was in power regarding this matter….

There’s no need for means testing as such, HMRC knows what everyone gets, just set the base higher than they have and ensure the really poor get the money……
