I’m not either, I’ve said in here before that the concept of taking cash away that people want to give their kids is an emotive issue and a tough sell, but a google search reckons that only 4% of people pay any form of inheritance tax.I'm not a fan of inheritance tax, I understand the logic behind it, it just targets too many people who are undeserving of being taxed like that such as your old man. It's an easier way to collect tax than chasing all the millionaires/billionaires who consistently find new ways to avoid paying. Instead of easy wins, the governments left and right should be going hard on these pieces of work.
People seem to have a notion that their hard working, working or middle class parents are gonna get fleeced when they die, and their lovely, homely, semi detached is gonna be stolen by the government, and their entire working salary taken away from them.
It’s a myth. 96% of people will never have to think about it, but it seems to occupy a lot of media attention.
