Stamer's Labour delays the implementation of some food checks in the same way the Tories did due concens in increasing basic food stuffs. It's about time the UK addressed the economic elephant in the room...
You're happy to do what ?
Well, I for one have never inherited anything as my mother had no money. My kids are not workshy, all have jobs and families they are are attempting to bring up , in the U.K., USA and the Philippines. They are doing a great job. Why should they not inherit money that I spent my life earning and paid tax on, but as I say I’ve already given it away, as many others will do to keep it out of the clutches of a government that will just waste it anyway…..
Excellent, you should be commended for giving up your hard earned money to overpaid train drivers….
I just found the way you spoke to @mahermi1 and @peteblue a tad disrespectful last night. Certainly linking Pete's care for his wife to a sob story imo was below the belt.I'm sure you're a decent fellow Sean but this is at least the 3rd time I've seen you misunderstand a CA post and go off half-cocked so we won't be conversing on the topic, okay?
The former pensions minister saying it was too hard basket to help the poorest pensioners claim what they deserved over the last 14 years then criticising it now being tackled too slowly (with dodgy maths because…of course) is peak Tory.Excellent news this, getting tax payers money to the most in need of it.

Thousands more claiming pension credit to get winter fuel payments – how you can
The number of pension credit claimants has risen from 4,000 per week before the Chancellor's statement to 7,900inews.co.uk
Apologies don't really happen around here.I think you owe the lad an apology tbh…but I wouldn’t hold my breath……
Then stop white knighting all the time and getting the wrong end of the stick. Also stop mentioning my ability to comprehend information. I'm an intelligent guy, I'm not looking to bring myself into this conversation and really if that's all you can say in reply to my response. Then it proves my point.
Then stop white knighting all the time and getting the wrong end of the stick.
I never said what you claimed. That’s just your interpretation. I’ve moved money in accordance with the laws of the land over the appropriate timescales to help my kids. All of which the due tax was paid. My accountant ensured that everything was above board and legal.
The government gives my son nothing, because he doesn’t claim it…as I would expect from him……
Why should they get a huge advantage, over people who work hard and don't get given handouts and a leg up?
I'm not a fan of inheritance tax, I understand the logic behind it, it just targets too many people who are undeserving of being taxed like that such as your old man. It's an easier way to collect tax than chasing all the millionaires/billionaires who consistently find new ways to avoid paying. Instead of easy wins, the governments left and right should be going hard on these pieces of work.My old man started off as an apprentice on the docks at 14.
Fast forward to seventy years later to now.
He’s worked for over forty, steadily progressing through his job.
He’s not rich and he’s not poor.
He’s a tight arse or as he calls it “ careful “ and saved or invested whatever spare money he had.
Over the years his savings and investments, grew and he’s now worth a few bob.
Bar the odd holiday, he’s never touched his savings / investments, as he wants to leave his money to :
(a) my mum, should he go first.
(b) his kids ( me )
(c) his grandkids ( my kids )
(d) charity.
Why should an ordinary working man, who’s saved all his life, to “do the right thing “ by his family, pay 100% inheritance tax ?
