I can’t think of a pub where I live that could enforce this, as most of them only have one member of staff behind the bar and they’re certainly not leaving the bar, to chase smokers away from the pavement outside.

It certainly won’t happen in city centres for the same reason and all the aggro it would cause.

Where I live, every pub turns a blind eye to people vaping as long as they’re not being stupid and in other peoples faces and it doesn’t seem to bother anyone.

It won’t mate and you’re spot on with vaping although I’ve been to a few places where they’ve been asked to put it away or leave and where it’s prohibited outside .

I will say that we had these exact conversations when the ban was introduced and it was openly discussed nobody would abide by it . When do people light up in pubs now ? Change comes and it comes gradually , I’ve openly said I have doubts on it on several levels but it’s a statement of intent I suppose .

Vaping is not illegal inside of pubs. Most pubs ban it, but it’s the choice of the management not law. We don’t allow it, outside only….

This smoking ban thing can't be real, it's utterly insane and I don't even smoke

I met my gf and a lot of my proper friends in the smoking areas in clubs, they can be the best places on earth to meet people
I hate to be the one to let you know but, the clubs have gone. They're all very cramped apartments with neighbours endlessly complaining about one another re noise. The irony.

Nah there are still some good ones about, admittedly not loads, but as long as Corsica Studios is open then proper clubs still exist. I have no idea how they have kept open, but they have.

The only problem with a lot of the bigger clubs is now they're so expensive to keep open, that they only use certain low risk promotors and the line ups are pretty stale, like the warehouse project for eg

Places like Corsica wouldn't survive a smoking ban, they're smoking area underneath an Overground line is amazing

I believe the heyday of club land, that secret society of clubbers* that travelled the land and took on mass is a very special time. The cathedrals existed, and the less lights were there. Such an amazing scene.

I see that our esteemed leader has removed a £100,000 portrait of Maggie Thatcher that was commissioned by none other than Gordon Brown…gesture politics is alive and well. So come on K9 when are you going to stop amateur hour and actually run the country. Obviously everyone in here will agree with him, but apart from pandering to his lefties how does this rebuild the U.K… answers on a postage stamp please…..
