Age UK believes there are three groups of people — totalling around two million — who will be most affected by the change to the Winter Fuel Payment eligbility.

The first is those people who are entitled to pension credit but not claiming it. The second is pensioners who are slightly above the income threshold for pension credit and are therefore ineligible for it. And the third, Abrahams said, are pensioners who seem like they "ought to be all right" based on their incomes but have much higher energy bills than average due to age-related health problems in the household.

So there's another 2 million (outside of the 1 million who will be getting the winter fuel payment, due to their qualification for pension credit) who will fall into fuel poverty.

That's what Reeve has achieved.

She tells us it's all about 'choices' you see.

The winter fuel payment is a benefit for a certain section of society. I wondered if you thought that other means tested benefits, such as housing benefit, child tax credits, council tax support, and so on, should also be open to everyone?

Well if they're 'means tested' it's open only to people who's income's are below a certain level and excludes all others. Why would they be offered those benefits? The clue is in the name.

'kin ell.

As I've said about you in the past: an educated fool.

Just you're complaining that the winter fuel payment will be means tested, so I wondered if you thought everyone should get, for instance, child tax credits. I wonder what makes one section of society different to another?

Dont you think that pensioners are means tested enough?

Obviously not.

2 million more people falling into fuel poverty is the projection at this latest means tested benefit.

Still, you get to make smart Alec comments about them, which is the main thing.

A success story for the government: they're going ahead with reopening large scale migrant prisons with histories of a toxic culture of abuse and disastrous mental heath issues including numerous suicide attempts. They'll facilitate the mass removal of immigrants arriving in boats and those hunted down by Immigrant Enforcement officers who roam the country's workplaces searching for them. They hope to have kicked out 14,000 migrant workers and asylum seekers in the next 6 months.

Congratulations go especially to Yvette Cooper.

Yes, all the 'poor pensioners'.

There's been over 11 million pensioners receiving that winter fuel allowance for a decade or more. From this winter just 1.2 million will receive it.

Isn't it good that all those 10 million rich pensioners wont be receiving their £200/£300 this winter. That'll teach the 10 million rich pensioners from being so rich.

Jesus 'kin wept.
That’s bollox though Dave isn’t it. Those who need it will get it… those who don’t won’t …. Quite simple really.
