Is this a new strike ? Or the one that’s been disrupting journeys for people who use public transport for the last 2 years ?

The one that the previous governmentl allegedly wrecked talks several times , is it that strike or a new one ?
We are not going on strike (the RMT ) there were meeting last week that were positive with the government.
Expect to hear early next week ,
Rumours are not far off what the drivers got.
Three year deal covering last year ,this and next year.
The drivers are getting there first pay increase in 5 years it's not really that big a deal averaged out over the time span.
The tories basically forced those strikes, the offers had strings that they knew wouldn't get through, it was an idealogy they were trying to force on the railworkers not a meeting to sort out a pay deal.
They said they handed the deals to the companies to sort out but everything had to go back to them, ot was nearly sorted on at least two occasions, with the companies only for the government to impose further conditions and put a block in the way.
Just for instance the station staff were offerd 4% , but Sunday became part of the week instead of overtime, they work 3 out of 4 , shift pay gone, that's 9% of the pay, no payment for bank holidays ect a commitment to work over Xmas and provided service at all time even in dispute.
Pension hit as well.
In short turning it into a low paid job with terrible conditions, it was infact a massive pay cut.
No wonder most of them put in for voluntary redundancy, far more put in for it than wanted to stay on northernrail.

Mate I wasn’t having a go at you I was illustrating maybe he’s not an honest broker.

I, for one, am enjoying the change of pace from Pete parroting defensive lines from The Telegraph verbatim in support of a incompetent and failing government, to parroting attacking lines from The Telegraph verbatim in support of an incompetent and failing opposition.

Variety is the spice of life.

And apparently, Reeves has buried the impact report of her theft of WFA from pensioners…should be interesting when it finally has to be revealed or slid out via the back door…you are right, not having to try and defend an incompetent government, but attacking a lying and incompetent government is much more fun……

See, the Labour government improving everyone’s lives, bringing enjoyment and fun even to stalwart Tories like yourself.

...and this is the honeymoon period....

As Starmer approaches the end of his first 50 days in office, the public is split over his government’s performance. About a quarter (24%) feel more positive about Labour since it won the election, while 29% feel more negative. Labour has lost some ground on the economy, where its lead is down to four points, and health, where its lead is down three points since the election.

Starmer’s personal ratings, which spiked after his election win, have fallen back to their negative pre-election levels. His net approval rating is -7%, down 10 points from the beginning of August and down 26 points from his first approval rating as prime minister.

@edge as someone who works for the NHS, good on you and the rest of the RMT for having a backbone and standing up for what's right.
Worst bit was seeing lads/ladies you thought were sound , breaking overtime bans, not the ones you expect with kid s ect, but the ones who like to never be out of work grabbing overtime ect left a sour taste , and the odd plain scabs that worked the strikes thankfully, not that many in are area.
Pity they just don't say union members get the deal , the rest go in and try and get one themselves as individuals., winds me up they get it for doing nothing.
Problem now is the staff really don't like the higher management
Who were putting out the Tory line, could cause trouble going onwards.
One of them was on ticktock in Liverpool saying look at this it's a strike day and everything is running , I thought they were militant around here , ( it was the day before the strike soft arse) now she is giving it , we will all work together for a brighter future.
hope going forwards she gets binned.

Across a series of measures, most voters thought that the government’s response to the rioting was either proportionate or not strong enough. Overall, 43% of voters approve of the government’s handling of the riots, while 30% disapprove.

In terms of the severity of the response, 44% think the government has reacted proportionately to the outbreaks of violence and unrest and 26% think it didn’t go far enough. Only 18% believed ministers had overreacted. There was a similar view on the sentences handed out, with some 70% thinking they were either about right or not harsh enough.

BIG praise on the way he banished racism tho.
