One Afghan guy I worked with, who ended up here, would have preferred to be in the uk simply cos he can speak the language. They have huge difficulties doing things like taking their kids to the hospital etc.

People refuse to even consider this.

It's not even rocket science. All you need to do is think through some of the factors you'd consider if your homeland became incredibly dangerous.

There is literally no point in trying to engage with him about this, he has been told multiple times the reasons people come to the UK, he has been told multiple times the rules around asylum, he has been picked up multiple times on the distinction between different types of immigration status. He neither understands, listens nor acknowledges a point which differs from his own. His bigotry won't allow it.
