Then you really shouldn’t be posting…..
Clarify legally and illegally for me please PeteSo he came here legally, and I assume would his brother and sister also, but that doesn’t fit in with your arguments does it…..

Yes, I know your angle. Providing people with asylum is impossible, when all they should really be doing is coming here as students. I can just imagine Nicholas Winton checking to see if those Jewish children were future Einsteins before allowing them onto the train. Perish the thought that Tories be thought of as selfish. Maybe you can cast your judgement over the 16 year old South Sudanese boy I mentored earlier this year. What pathway should he have taken Pete?Of course not. You’re his mentor, you’ve been talking about his brother and sister, yet somehow managed to avoid any kind of discussion about how this may be achieved. Pull the other one or just tell the truth…..

I think of all the argument people from your side of the aisle use against asylum claimants this is possibly the most disingenuous. After reading the last few days of posting we’re supposed to realise that what you actually meant was “I’m so worried about the poor souls welfare, I just don’t want anything to happen to them “. I mean you could caveat that by saying you’re so worried but not worried enough to think that the 70% that subsequently qualify for asylum deserve a home but hey a handy tool to utilise rather than saying “send em back “.I don’t know Bruce. But so far this year 25 people have died attempting to cross the channel even though they are perfectly safe within the EU. Surely it’s better to apply for asylum in France, Belgium or Holland…..but we are just going around in circles as usual……
Once again, a lack of awareness of history comes to the fore. Britain divided Sudan into two parts at the start of the 20th century, with the South English speaking. It was only after WW2 that our 50-odd year occupation of the country came to an end. So, just for the same reason you probably wouldn't ask why an Indian or Australian might prefer Britain to France, the same applies to a young man from South Sudan.I don’t know Bruce. The fact that the horrific murder in Southport and the suffering of families has been hiyjacked by extremists to push their narrative and inflict suffering on others frankly disgusts me.
Pete we’ve had 15 pages talking about how they can’t apply and that’s just in this latest round .What disgusts me is the casual way you try to portray anyone like myself who wants these things done legally, without endangering anyone at all, with the small rabble of cretins who started rioting. People migrate here legally, they do not jump the queue, they do not pay criminal gangs, they retain their documentation and they are not responsible for deaths in the channel. I have stated over many years on here that I have absolutely no problem with migrants from anywhere in the world and in whatever numbers who go through the legal channels. Perhaps you might just think that it’s not only yourself that seeks the best for these people, millions of fellow citizens do as well or does that not fit in with the agenda…..
By Petes new 'I'm just thinking of safety' logic, he would be happy if we had an entirely open border because then there would be no need for channel crossings on small boats. Everyone would be entitled to come here legally - so no issue.Pete we’ve had 15 pages talking about how they can’t apply and that’s just in this latest round .
Your argument isn’t about their deaths and how best to protect refugees it’s because you don’t want people who don’t make applications, even though as we’ve discussed they can’t . I don’t agree with you but I don’t think it necessarily makes you a racist or a rioter . I do think it’s beneath you to then drag out the “what about the people who died” as if that’s your main concern when I think your arguments would be structured and expressed differently if that was true .
You’re happy with migrants who apply ‘legally’ (using your terminology ) the conservative government stopped any legal way for asylum seekers to apply ‘legally’ . Even your suggested method involved them lying on documentation and to immigration officers which by your reasoning would make them illegal .
We can’t and we won’t agree Pete , it seems fairly clear that that won’t change .
