Think there's some socio economic issues with some areas, people want to live in places that have reliable and 'enough paying' work.
Every town and city needs it's brownfield sites surveyed, and then ownership scrutinised. Where there can be 'easy wins' re building, these areas need focus first. The creaking Victorian infrastructure of a lot of towns and cities also needs addressing, because just plonking another 25k houses into an area has it's consequences.

This is where the purposeful ignorance of long term planning starts to come into play.

placing all this in the hands of the private sector is doomed to fail. almost as if they are doing it on purpose

You haven't once answered any of my questions. You say cronyism when she is more than qualified. You call her a pervert when her husband orders porn.

Why don't just say. I don't like the women and find that her appointment to government bad judgment due to her previous scandals.

her husband took the blame, shes untrustworthy so why should i trust her husband.
shes unelected and unaccountable, its cronyism

….my daughter is an NHS Consultant and I also had a good chat with a London based nurse last week and they both mainly allude to the costly waste of uneccessary middle-managers. The nurse told me she has two office bound ‘sisters’ who are rarely seen from a clinical perspective and are basically report writers. My daughter tells of beurocratic managers taking all office space and naively managing clinical matters.

I wonder if Labour might try to address this. Maybe utilising Nightingale wards to free up beds and manage the transition to social care. Move uneccessary staff to directly manage that facility.

Tough task ahead.
Y'know it was the Blair Govt who really accelerated a lot of that with all the targets they chucked into the system. The Tories came in trying to reduce them, yet they seem to have done the opposite.

You are really embarrassing yourself suggesting that.

We obviously have a difference of opinion on what is cronyism. But appointing her in government, in a position that is for the betterment of children and that she is a former school teacher and Minister for state schools. Means that there can be no suggestion that it is a purely appointment because her being mates with Starmer and experience and qualifications are well in line with her current position.

….knowing her background in finance, I posted quite a few years ago that she could one day be Shadow Chancellor and even Chancellor, much to the amusement of a particular poster.
Went to school with that rat hancock, hopefully is much much more competent.

That's the thing, tories act as though their turning up to run things is a privilege for the country, whereas usually those that've strove for the chance on behalf of labour see is as a privilege to serve.

Long is the way and hard, that out of Hell leads up to light.

I'm a bit surprised about Lady Nugee / Emily Thornberry being overlooked for a cabinet post. She seemed to be one of the "big guns" during Labour's time in opposition - does anyone know why Starmer appears to have thrown her overboard?
