The two-year policy was Tory policy.

'Labour' have now accepted that. All they've done is dropped the proof of living as a changed gender life for two years.

'Labour' have also dropped their mooted intention of scrapping a panel of people with legal and medical backgrounds passing judgement on someone's right to transgender as currently exists, and replacing them with a GP more familiar with the person in question.

So, a fundamental retreat on the issue.
You clearly didn’t read the article. They are scrapping the panel and it will be replaced by a specialist in gender issues, not a GP.

Starmer is currently doing an hour special with The Sun BTW
TBF as DPP he was attacked by a Parliamentary Committee looking into the phone hacking scandal that he did practically f.a. to investigate the scandal until the brown stuff hit the fan.

He was in bed with the NOTW and Murdoch even way back then.

Of course he works for the S*n and takes their cash and spits in the face of the families and friends of 97 victims of a state crime.

Some Scousers are voting for this utter disgrace. Unreal.

Hes not standing in Liverpool, so no scouser will vote for him.

No, I think the lack of rigour lies with you: In their pre-manifesto statement in May, Labour said it had "not yet been decided whether the medical professional would be a GP or a gender specialist".

Going with the specialist is a half way house from a panel - at best.

[I recognise you also acknowledge, by omission, the two year reflection period is a new 'Labour' Party stance on the issue, thereby adopting to large degree the Tory policy on applying a 'cooling off' time frame.]

He's utter filth and no one from Merseyside should be voting for him.

There's no excuse for it. 'Labour' are getting in anyway.

Vote against the Starmer vetted candidates. Do something meaningful to send out a message he cant do that with The S*n and get away with it.

I 100% will not vote for Starmer.

Cos he wont appear on my ballot.

You described it as a U-Turn in your initial post which it clearly is not. As you say yourself, in May they hadn’t decided whether it would be a GP or a specialist in gender issues. As mentioned in the article this is not much different at all to what they said last year.

Here is an article from last year outlining the plan to change to only having a single registrar make the decision. Notice that nothing is mentioned about it being a GP that knows the person. Their position has basically not changed yet you are calling it a u-turn.

The u-turn was from "A diagnosis provided by one doctor, with a registrar instead of a panel"

That's not now happening. It's now a specialist.

The u-turn was also down to accepting a two year cooling off period before changed gender recognition.

To portray today's statement as 'not a u-turn' is something sophistry cant get round.

The specialist is a doctor ffs. A single doctor. They aren’t just getting is some random person. Actually read things before commenting. It’s not a u-turn and you know it but obviously you will never accept you are wrong.

Not a GP though. Someone familiar with the candidate.

You keep ignoring the other issues of 'Labour' accepting a two year pause before changed gender status is granted.

I wonder who you're ignoring that? 🤔

That was never a promise so it’s not a u-turn, that is my point!! And they never said they would get rid of the two year period and they have actually pledged to make it easier for people to get a gender recognition certificate.

Also a bit rich of you to accuse me of ignoring points when you have been wilfully doing it through this entire exchange.

He's utter filth

And Galloway is your "Precious", despite his party's stance on Trans issues (suddenly a huge deal when you can put the boot into Starmer) being 'offputting'.
