Starmer before: "We'll finally abolish the undemocratic and unrepresentative House of Lords"

Starmer after: "We'll limit the undemocratic and unrepresentative chamber to the under 80s".

FFS, is there really anyone preparing to vote for these sell out clowns?

Sunak : "we'll do nothing at all about it, by the way I've got a helicoptor to catch sorry about missing D Day remembrance services LOL"

Unite won't back Labours manifestos as it does not go far enough in protecting jobs in Gas and Oil... There is no shelter for Unite in the fanatical Green Party.

Headline suggests this is the wrong thread mate.

I think this belongs in the Labour thread mate. Quite nicely provides some evidence that a few folk have asserting - the Unions may move away from Labour.

Longer term there is a potential pinch point for unions in the transition to Net Zero - do they try protect to jobs in a sector that will quite possibly be phased out?

Taken from the Green Party thread. I rather think @NilSatisOptimum posted it there as it isn't helpful for his particular line of argument on Labour. Sneaky Sneaky.

In fairness, zero hour contracts shouldn’t be scrapped.

They need to be regulated more and we need to create an economy and jobs market where the right people are in zero hour contracts.

They’re a great option for young people who need a supplement income whilst studying.

Unfortunately too many people are having to rely on these jobs as their only job it seems which is wrong.

Labour and the unions should come together to regulate them.

Yes, it is their job rather. However, it is an interesting potential future tension - protect obs in industries widely regarded as destroying the planet and being phased out? Difficult terrain.

Yeah, I think it’s fair to say unions can be inflexible when it comes to moving with the times, but they have to protect jobs as well.

Compromise and flexibility from both parties is needed.

Seems like the unions and the party are on a different page though.

If Labour get a massive majority they might feel empowered to lean further left, but could also go the other way.
