Another promise broken by the Red Tories...

You've never spoken to someone actually on a zero hours contract, have you? I remember Roydo (god bless you mate), was on one and found the flexibility worked for him. Many in the gig economy feel likewise. Obviously there are also many for whom it's not a good way of working, but the binary language of good/bad is nonsense and extremely simplistic.

Works for some but not for most. That's why Labour came up with their policy...sorry, ex-policy.

Nah, they promised a complete overhaul of the power dynamic in the workplace and contracts that pertain to it. This is not tweaking, it's dropping the corner stone of it.

Has that rat Rayner spoken up about this yet or is she still seeing to her own taxes to save her own skin?

They wanted to ban probationary period in that complete over-all, utter madness if you see some people who turn up in care for jobs, you can give people a chance but continue with them by law, only if you want safeguarding putting you in special measures ...

As for Rayner, not sure where Lord Ashcroft is at with his accusations, anyone?

That's another (earlier) watering down of the Bill they trumpeted they'd be pushing through to 'transform' the workplace. Now this on zero hours contracts. More 'consultation' with business will see their promises further diluted.

No wonder the unions are beginning to rattle their swords.

And by the way, what a cowardly time to announce all this knowing that it'll be buried under the local election coverage.

There is literally nothing beyond not being the official Tories that recommends this lot to anyone.

26% swing is marvellous, they can wage war on the weak be that disabled attacking Asylum seekers or immigrants, just not enough of the electorate to fall for the divide conquer

Very pleasing rsult. However Reform in third place is a bit of a concern, but if it means they're taking most of their votes from the Tories, I can live with it.

….if the Conservatives can win one or two of those key, high-profile Mayoral votes then they’ll proclaim it a success.
More like Sunak will claim it a win over his own Conservatives who want him out. Tories were clinging on to second in Blackpool by election. Was a very big result and swing if it stood alone.

Sitting down and in no particular order with Business and Unions and finding a policy that both find acceptable is good politic.

Isn't that ACAS's job or whatever quango that deals with it these days?

The mission of the Labour Party has been to represent working class people in parliament. It isn't there to hold the coats of capital and labour as they negotiate - with labour always in a position of weakness...something that their 'New Deal for workers', which is crumbling away, is going to cement.

Reform voters in Blackpool was definitely made up of the disgruntled Benton voters who wouldn’t vote Tory again who protest voted and believed they wrote voting for change 🙄

The rest were just the usual ukip / Britain first morons as the area is way behind the times and still very racist,
