Current Affairs The Labour Party

I came back from visiting my mum this afternoon through a part of Rochdale that is predominantly Asian or Asian heritage. If that’s anything to go by Galloway must be in with a real chance now that Labour are out. I’ve never seen as many posters for one candidate without seeing any for other candidates. There was one street were I counted 12 posters on poles outside houses. All for Galloway. Almost every other house. It’s obvious who the Asian voters are voting for now the Labour candidate has gone. I suppose they must make up a third of the electorate. The other two thirds will be split between a myriad of candidates or not even voting.
So we have three ex Labour candidates, two independents with the same surname, a Green Party candidate who says he's withdrawn, a Monster Raving Loony Party candidate, the Lib Dems, the Conservatives and a few other assorted independents.

I can see a winner getting about 20 -25% of the votes cast. What a great advert for FPTP.

I think watching Labour lose another election due to anti-semitism, or the perception of anti-semitism; the left leaning people in the country arguing over nuanced, semantic discussions about valid criticisms of the Israeli government versus leaning too far into well known anti semitic tropes, all happening while re-electing another openly xenophobic and corrupt Tory party, will be too much for me to handle.

Some Labour Party members at the moment, are trying to inflict damage on themselves.

In respect wining a GE I don’t think it will make a difference, possibly at worst a few seats may have smaller Labour margins but it won’t make any difference to the result.

It is to the Labour Friends of Israel in parliament.
Same activist meeting where Azhar Ali made his comments. This time, action has been quick and decisive.

If half of these are even close to antisemitism, the islamophobia within Tory party must be seen as very extreme. There is probably even more in labour than this new wave of antisemitism
