People will expect things to be fixed in 12months and when its not, thats when the trouble starts.
Starmer and his fellow Red Tories have told people time and again there is only 'Project Hope' on offer.

Vote for them and the country has to hope something turns up whereby the war in Ukraine ends, co-operation with China returns and confidence comes back into the world economic system....and then the UK with it's 'natural entrepreneurship' (as the Manchurian Candidate put it) will produce a lot of exports of stuff the world cant wait to get hold of and then government can tax that and pay for everything else.

It's a fallacy. They know it and we know it. So, no, people wont be expecting results, they'll expect the same old BS with a different colour rosette.

I guess we won’t know a lot until the election manifesto is released. There is extra scrutiny and pressure on Labour I think to be providing policy proposals to counter the Tory crazy stuff. Not sure how common it is for the opposition to do this. Does seem like they’re being intentionally vague though, which I can understand to a degree, however this will have to change at some point.

Project hope ffs lol

Red Tory policy has been to not interrupt the Blue Tories while they're doing themselves damage.

The policies are slowly emerging though and they are fiscal prudence and a further deregulation of the economy at the heart of it.

There's virtually no distinction between them now, apart from the Blue Tories being probably more interventionist than Starmer's lot.

That's an incredibly sad situation to be in.

We needed bold vision and for bold moves like moving over lock stock and barrel to a green economic footing and major infrastructural programmes. We need a classic pump priming of the economy but all we'll get is the usual kow-towing to small government and the parasites in the financial sector.

They will unless Starmer comes out very early in his Premiership and tells people what the problems are, what he is going about them, why they have to be fixed, how long the fixes will last and most importantly of all who is going to be most outraged by it.

A lot of the things that need fixing in government and with the economy are relatively easy to fix, but fixing them will wind up massively those who fund politics. His problem is that most of the people who he chose to embrace will never do that.

Why is it so important to you that the Tories beat Starmer at the General Election Dave, if the Socialists are up next anyway?

Still don't seem to be able to answer this one way or the other, can you. Why can't Starmer get his 5 years in first?

Imagine being so animated about Starmer you throw multiple tantrums over him every day, and not even having the temerity to attempt to justify it.

Shameful behaviour from Dave yet again, who must by now realise he's in an untenable position, and so flees the discussion rather than own it.

Absolutely pathetic cowardice. Are you sure you're not a Tory MP. It explains so much about you!

One of the big reasons the West as a whole is in such a malaise at the moment, and at risk from the alt-right, is that for far too long centrists have deliberately focused elections as a binary choice between them or the loons.

Starmer and Labour simply have to behave properly if they win. If they do what the likes of Macron, Obama, Clinton, Blair and loads of others did - not reform and allow inequalities to grow - then this country is going to be ruined for a generation or more.

They have to be forced into doing the right thing; Dave is right to demand this.

Dave is doing his best to see our current alt right government stsy in power.

They have to be forced out even though some like Dave would rather see "mean spirited" Torys retain power than Starmer.

Dave has every right to leave Labour and join the Greens. If that was what he wanted he'd be in the Greens thread championing them 10 times a day and not on his weird Zelenskyy agenda with Starmer.

Why would someone in the Greens want Sunak to win the next GE 🤔

You're not wrong, but that's not what Dave is saying. He's saying that people should vote Green, that Labour need to lose the election, and then in 5 years we'll all be able to vote for the Socialists that rise up in the wake of this.

I'm politely enquiring why the Tories need to win now in order for the Socialists to triumph in 5 years. What part of Dave's plan hinges on Starmer losing this year?

In fact, wouldn't it be even more gratifying to see the 'kin rat Mancunian Candyfloss Starmer lose out personally to the Socialists?

That's what I'm asking, and that's what Dave is refusing to answer. It's a simple enough enquiry, but he's incapable of coming up with a reason, despite it being something he bangs on about multiple times every single day.

He's right a lot of the time in this thread.

He is very rarely met with anything constructive.

I get it, he is the way he is, but it's really boring now seeing you and others constantly chasing his round this thread.

He is fully entitled to be angry at Starmer and the labour party.

Too many people treating politics like a sport. As long as your team wins all will be fine. Some of us see it differently.
