Current Affairs The Labour Party

You're not wrong, but that's not what Dave is saying. He's saying that people should vote Green, that Labour need to lose the election, and then in 5 years we'll all be able to vote for the Socialists that rise up in the wake of this.

I'm politely enquiring why the Tories need to win now in order for the Socialists to triumph in 5 years. What part of Dave's plan hinges on Starmer losing this year?

That's what I'm asking, and that's what Dave is refusing to answer. It's a simple enough enquiry, but he's incapable of coming up with a reason, despite it being something he bangs on about multiple times every single day.

If they do not change then why should people vote for them?

I don’t agree with not voting Labour at the next election (though I am in the fortunate situation of liking my Labour MP), but it’s a bit rich to hear many of the same people who bitched about being politically homeless and threatened to vote for anyone but Corbs for five years now demand that people vote for them to stop the Tories.

Too many people treating politics like a sport. As long as your team wins all will be fine. Some of us see it differently.

Also, my 'team' is a strong progressive Leftist government doing the best for the people, not the powerful. Seeing people beg others to let the Tories squeak into power for another 5 years is what I'm very happy to push back against any day of the week.

You might see that differently of course.

He's right a lot of the time in this thread.

He is very rarely met with anything constructive.

I get it, he is the way he is, but it's really boring now seeing you and others constantly chasing his round this thread.

He is fully entitled to be angry at Starmer and the labour party.

He is also welcome to post the positives of voting Green in the Green party thread but he is not.

And there it is.

I guess we won’t know a lot until the election manifesto is released. There is extra scrutiny and pressure on Labour I think to be providing policy proposals to counter the Tory crazy stuff. Not sure how common it is for the opposition to do this. Does seem like they’re being intentionally vague though, which I can understand to a degree, however this will have to change at some point.

Project hope ffs lol

They had Helsentine on LBC earlier this week and he had a good point about being in opposition and talking about policies.

Best to be vague as if you have any decent ones the current government would nick them or pick holes in it.

Yeah, I don't disagree. I'm not sure what postion you think I'm coming from that you're quoting me and telling me this, because it's not what I'm posting about?

I voted Labour when Corbyn was the Leader. I was excited for the possibilities when he became Leader. I don't particular care for Starmer and didn't think he had a chance of being PM when he was first made Leader. In retrospect, perhaps a Johnson collapse was always on the cards and Tory chaos was going to gift him a strong hand.

Just for some context, like.

Now Dave, if you're floating about, how about an answer?

I wasn’t saying you were one of those people, but they are clearly the people Dave was talking about.

Well, we are not getting a strong progressive leftist government no matter who wins the next election, so if this is what people want, it's up to them how they decide to push for it to happen in the future.

Some will vote labour no matter what and blindly hope they move towards the left and stay in government over time.

Others will move away from labour and vote for the greens, or independents because labour don't adhere to their values anymore.

I personally don't think Dave is begging for the tories to squeak into power. He's just highlighting, probably poorly, how far away the labour party are from the people they should represent.

Codbyn is gone, good or bad that's the reality. Its done, move on.

The other reality that we have to face is a government so corrupt that they pose a direct threat to the lives of all but a few here. That's what the country has to address.

I’ll take your avoidance of the question as a yes.

Would be very interesting to see how a lot of people voted in the last election, in this thread and in the media.

Always have voted Labour, no matter who was leader, but can fully understand people voting just to stop the Tories getting in. They gave decimated and divided the whole Country were their austerity, grifting and downright hatred for the lower classes, after over 13 years of the tory party I feel people have the right to want them out and hopefully they will.
