I don’t mind Yvette Cooper but all I’ve seen is her saying this is a chaotic plan, the result of failed policies and immigration needs to come down

No substance. Pretty pathetic stuff.

Yvette Cooper is one of the good ones, IMO.

I do understand, however, the want for some substance from her/Labour...what they'd do, etc. But I also recognise that Labour are still in the mode of letting the Tories hang themselves and not to rock the boat in what is currently highly-charged murky waters - rightly or wrongly, that's their clear policy thus far.

But... they are right at the end point of this now, IMO. We are within a year of an election and we are at the point of needing a reason to vote for them, policy-wise, other than 'they ain't Tories'.

They've done well to this point without substance as they've not really needed it, what with the Tories imploding.

Time to see what they are made of and judgement thereafter, because for me, that's really not yet been tested.

You mean the electable socialist policy that got elected throughout 80s to mid 90s . Could have interjected earlier and saved us all this trouble.

Boohoo the big bad press and its monopolized press Barons, same as it ever was. They are cards dealt and cry me a river...

We had a nationalised railway and free (albeit means tested) tertiary education during Thatchers day, as well as more employee rights, no legal gig economy, lots of social housing and much less inequality.

That is what I meant when I pointed to the rightward drift; mugs like you are claiming things that Thatcher did are far left and therefore not “electable”, argued from a position where you don’t know what far left is (or what is or is not electable). You’ve just been conditioned to evacuate your bowels whenever you hear the word far left.

All very nostalgic but pointless all the same unless Dr Who is real ...

I will only ask once because very likely disappear up a principle where the sun dont shine and its open question to those find me not left wing these days. Would you mind me asking what the realistic alternative is, and I see few scenarios.

One is where im at that we vote in Starmer and then hope to build upon the massive achievement of gaining power, step by step.

The other is to acknowledge that Starmer is 20 points ahead in the polls and looking at breaking the back of the Tory party but target him in order to bring Labour down and install something that will result in the hope of real socialism but at some point undefined future and mentioned previously. How that happens and what it looks like will need to be detailed before I get on board, because all i see is it'll likely result in some genuinely more horrid governments in the coming years before we got there.

Is there any other realistic alternative that you can see that I'm unable to because and I mean this entirely genuinely, I'll get behind it right now if it's serious and achievable), that is likely to result in what many of you consider 'great socialism' winning at the forthcoming election?

lol lol lol

Took £184,000 from investment company MPM Connect to lobby for them; abstained when the Tories brought their Welfare Reform Bill into parliament, failed to vote for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Yeah, a really "good one" she is.

No wonder the Manchurian Candidate keeps her close.

Enjoys Gangam Style (sic) mind.

Some are showing that they do not understand planning, strategy and tactics. As you clearly understand, winning elections, regardless of the ideology requires effective communication, broad appeal, adaptability to changing circumstances, and the ability to engage all voters in their respective places of information gathering and finding common ground. Starmers Labour is crafting tactics to resonate with a wide audience and is being responsive to evolving situations.

The mistake you are making here is that you think Starmer and the group around him represent change of the kind that is required to fix the country and protect us going forwards. They do not; if they did they would not be "twenty points ahead in the polls", nor would they be receiving such an easy ride in the press.

At the very least, I hope he'll emulate her workaholism. It was something that was expected of all PMs, but after the last few Tories, seeing someone who takes the job seriously would be a breath of fresh air. And I give May credit for that at least.
