…I really hope Starmer sticks with his stance on Israel/Hamas conflict. The reality is, the Leader of The Opposition has absolutely no influence on what’s happening but he should stand alongside other western leaders in calling for a humanitarian ‘pause’.

They know calls for a ceasefire is futile given the Israeli mood, so much better to influence behind the scenes. This will be settled by diplomacy and release of the hostages could significantly change the mood.

Stand firm, Starmer.

It's futile asking for a 'humanitarian pause' too. They denied that. So where''s the so called pragmatism for achievable things?

Stop defending him. He's a spineless turd watching on as kids are incinerated by the thousands.

Have the Tories asked for a ceasefire Dave ? They are the ones in power and it would carry far more weight if they asked for a ceasefire, Rather than a powerless leader of the opposition. Has you're crusade against the Labour party spread to the Conservative party yet Dave ? Thought not. Don't expect an answer either.

What can he actually do to stop it though? About as much as you and I. I get you dont like him, that is fair enough, but clattering him far this seems bizarre.

'Labour' will win the next election with Starmer as their leader.

Then those who'll make it happen have 5 years to repent at leisure as just exactly what it means to have that lot in control becomes obvious: more austerity, more deregulation, more crumbling of existing services.

The ridiculous thing is that I know that most of you know that in advance, but you just want the satisfaction of this being 'Labour' in office doing it rather than than the Tory Party.
Im quite aware Dave.

The problems in this country wont be fixed by just voting Labour, we are very much on a downward spiral.

So save yourself the energy for the next 5 years saying I told you so, I KNOW.

But again, we have 2 choices, 4 years of the Tories with the evil little tax avoiding midget Rishi and the evil, evil Cruella or we get Labour, with the horrid Starmer.

So once again, I ask, what choice do we have? Still waiting for you to give me a palatable and viable option.

It's one of Dave's brainless crusades, he demands attention, remember the wall around Bramley Moore stadium ? Remember the name Bramley Moore ? Remember that dastardly Windmill ? That's just a few.

Cant see much change with Hamas and Netanyahu in charge either. There are some in the background who will pull back settlements as well, lot got to happen for that to happen.

He's the leader of the opposition Dave and not the Prime Minister. Are Sunak Prime Minister and the Coservative party getting a free ride off you Dave, explain why, again you will dodge the question.

@davek is a questioner, a sceptic, and has principles he will not concede on. I/we may disagree at times, or ask for clarification, but to me, the world needs folk who will not accept an echo chamber. "Fears of a witch hunt" thread notwithstanding.

He and I are more similar than may appear apparent.

Why is he backing a humanitarian pause? Is that achievable by the leader of HM Opposition? Even the US President could't get one in place.

So is he being consistent with what he;s claiming about pragmatism and what's not possible on a pause versus a ceasefire?

You're just encouraging him, he has a witch hunt against Keir Starmer and the Labour party, I have my principles and I won't change them. One of them is voting against the most obnoxious, lying, corrupt Government in my view, in living memory, after 13 years of this abomination I've had enough.
