Why is he backing a humanitarian pause? Is that achievable by the leader of HM Opposition? Even the US President could't get one in place.

So is he being consistent with what he;s claiming about pragmatism and what's not possible on a pause versus a ceasefire?

Why is Sunak why aren't you crusading against him ?

It also takes a vote off the Labour Party and that's what Dave wants.
The Former Labour Pary are going to win. No doubt about that.

But I won't have it on my conscience.

They'll batter ordinary people at the same rate as the Tories have battered them.

Nein Danke.

I live in a swing area so will probably vote labour because of that. If I didn't, I wouldn't vote

My local MP is Paul Bristow, who is the only Tory MP who called for a ceasefire so I think there is a good chance he will win now, as there is a fairly large Muslim population and our labour guy has said.... nothing

So now you're Nostradamus and can clinically predict the future.....well I suppose that was probably the next step with you anyway.. If ordinary people even think like you Labour has absolutely no chance of winning the next election.

The last Tory MP who called for a ceasefire, Paul Bristow was sacked last week, good luck for anyone voting for him.

…I really hope Starmer sticks with his stance on Israel/Hamas conflict. The reality is, the Leader of The Opposition has absolutely no influence on what’s happening but he should stand alongside other western leaders in calling for a humanitarian ‘pause’.

They know calls for a ceasefire is futile given the Israeli mood, so much better to influence behind the scenes. This will be settled by diplomacy and release of the hostages could significantly change the mood.

Stand firm, Starmer.

I couldn't disagree more with you - this crisis is not one where anyone will be able to stick with a stance, nor should they.

Starmer and the rest can say "Israel must follow international law" but when it becomes ever clearer that they are not, something has to change. He may not be able to influence them, but he can influence the rest of the world by demonstrating that he agrees with them (and the UN, and international law, and the population of this country).

Done the correct thing Starmer in trying to bring people together far too many on the extremes in Left and Right engulfed and obsessed by their own culture wars vying for the populist voice of the nation. The polls are showing they will be both sent to the naughty step.
