Indeed, May was as useless as Brown…..
She might have stood a bit of a chance if she wasn’t completely back stabbed by Johnson and Gove.

To be fair to her, they party wouldn’t have sunk to the levels it’s at now. But I guess that’s what happens when you put some second rate, over privileged narcissistic journalist in charge.

Tbf, Cameron was ’ed and shoulders above the tombstone man…..
Pete, I never thought I would ever say this but in hindsight Thatcher was head and shoulders above anything that has attempted to succeed her. I hate what she did to the unions, and the miners, and she was a tough cookie for the Irish Government over the years. However, there was a mutual respect between our then Taoiseach Haughey and her despite huge differences in political opinion.

What has come to you since has been pathetic imo.

Political pygmies. The Europhile Tories stabbed Thatcher in the back and we ended up with a waste of space in Major. The rest is history…one pygmy after another…most people don’t even know who the Liberal leader is never mind pick him or is it her out in a lineup. Nonentities rule the roost…..

That’s because she was a real politician. Not some second rate narcissistic journalist on nothing but a power trip, but massively out of its depth.

What I was so angry about was after the IRA ceasefire in 94 Major and our Taoiseach Bruton sat on their hands doing nothing to move the agenda forward . One of my blackest days was when the IRA said f++ this and the Canary Wharf bombing happened in Feb 96. 18 months of peace shattered by complete political incompetence.

Major and Bruton were two grey, probably honest, but useless leaders at the wrong time. Thatcher and Haughey would have got moving in getting a positive response to the ceasefires - Loyalists also on ceasefire remember. It set back the process 4 and half years.

McGuinness the IRA man and Paisley the extreme Loyalist were the ones who brokered a peaceful solution - both now deceased RIP and both have blood on their hands. However they found a way to move on
