The L.C.A.B. / THT Transfer Window Thread ....

Bit miffed with not being in for John Carew, would have been perfect for us in our system and on a free in the summer - win/win good or bad, but in Moyes we trust.

*Stop him scoring against us everytime we play as well.

Jeez I sincerely hope NOT. Would rather play Hope from the Youth team than this carthorse.

A very sad state of affairs for a club of our stature.....treading water whilst Kenwright does nothing to change things (10 yrs and counting)...

David Moyes has revealed his concern that Everton could be caught "standing still" if they fail to invest in new talent but remains confident of signing a much-needed striker before the transfer window closes.

The Everton manager now has funds for a loan deal having sold Steven Pienaar to Tottenham Hotspur for £3m this week and reduced his wage bill by off-loading Yakubu Ayegbeni to Leicester City until the end of the season.

Having had to sell players to buy for the past two seasons, however, and been thwarted in a January move for the Monaco forward Dieumerci Mbokani, Moyes fears the club could be overtaken by Premier League rivals who do have the money to invest.

Moyes, who has consolidated the bulk of his Everton squad on new long-term contracts over the past year, said: "I've not really liked any of the last four or five transfer windows. I've not really enjoyed them because they have been really difficult for us.

"There is a worry that we will stand still if we don't spend money, but if you have none that's the way it is and you just have to deal with it. We have said we are trying to look for investment and I am positive I will bring somebody in.

"You know the players need a boost as well, they need to see something moving forward, and I'm aware of that. I have been a player myself and I have seen how it can boost the squad, so we'll try to do that. But it won't be with a [permanent] transfer."

The Hoffenheim striker Demba Ba, who has seen moves to West Ham United and Stoke City collapse this month over a failed medical, could be Moyes' next target after being unable to secure Mbokani.

"We made an offer to get Mbokani on loan, for his wages and the loan fee which was the best we could have done but I think Monaco have bigger, permanent offers in for him," Moyes said. "There are not many clubs who would let a player go out on loan six months after spending £7m on him."

This quote was what I was referring to. He failed his medical. Why on earth do we want him when he's been rejected from WEST HAM and STOKE?

Cheers, Demba Ba 6m , i would imagine nothing doing there so.

Is right. We shouldn't neglect what needs to be done on the pitch. Let those that handle recruitment handle.

We need to beat these today convincingly. Or if they step up we need to step up a gear too.

The way to get players here is to win games.

The only new transfer story other than the game I could find was the lame Baines to Manchester United rumor (gave me a good laugh).

Our transfer market right now is the equivalent of crickets chirping.

It's all coming down to the last week isn't it? Silly season, how interesting you are....

Thats coz some clubs will lower prices last minute (if felt to be unreasonable now) in order to get wages off the books.

The whole system's gone abit mental to be honest.

Financial crash 2008. Footballer wages have increased average 20% despite a recession in 2 years. ... Fragile economic growth. Financial "Fair Play" regulations incoming. Most clubs sell to buy.... (Aston Villa sold 3 players to get Bent, plus it's not all fee upfront!) ... Everton developing new 4 storey-building ... Everton with a constrained stadium capacity...

Bit of a storm.... really in financial terms. Unfortunately... and here I agree...

Two of three key board members (and shareholders) haven't put money in to help weather this storm. Or get that key investment in - to QUICKLY build up KEY REVENUE GENERATING INFRASTRUCTURE at the club.

How many more windows of mediocrity are we going to have to sit through? The last 5 have been like frickin' Groundhog Day.

I've cracked - how do we get the Board out???

We can't... it's all up to Kenwrong as to when he decides he's tired of his toy football club.
