I see no reason why he couldn't play a similar role to the one Osman played in 07/08. Inbetween Cahill and Neville, box to box and linking things together. He's no Arteta but it'd be interesting to see him in a more central position.

Especially with movement around him. He also covers more ground than any of our players which would be an added bonus.

For me Pienaar should be the one playing behind the striker. He is more versatile and mobile than both Fella and Cahill

I'm all for using Cahill to his strength. If we'd have a midfield containing of the players in my line-up, I think it would be daft to keep using Cahill in the Arteta role, as he just isn't creative enough for it. Pienaar would be whole other story though.

Just read Marca...

Apparently Bayern wanted Heitinga earlier this summer...

The article doesn't confirm what the British press have been reporting since last night, ie a fee has been agreed. It does confirm Everton's interest and also says Atletico Madrid are looking to trim their wage bill.

Anyone else think Fellaini needs to be deeper so as to play well -ie facing goal as he has a slow turn? Leave Cahill to do the Cahill thing.

Fellaini isn't creative enough for the role and he doesn't protect the back four well enough to be a defensive midfielder.

I think he has more potential there than as a target man tho. I wouldn't mean defensive mid, more central mid. His passing is usually accurate, I think he could grow into a good CM.

Both Cahill and Fellaini were awful at Burnley. To me what summed it up was when a corner came in and Yobo got the header. They gave each other a look like well that was our only chance to do something gone.

They're both Second Strikers/target men and they just can't play any further back. We need Arteta back or somebody else in to play his role, end of.

He's neat and tidy, he keeps the ball moving.

He's not creative though, he doesn't keep of the ball long enough to do anything with it. And he's going to have a problem when he's facing his own goal because he doesn't have the mobility to turn under pressure and pick a pass. The ball would just keep going back to the back four.

He played there against Sigma in the first leg and kept losing the ball, he isn't comfortable with small tenacious midfielders snapping at his ankles, it doesn't suit his game.

I think we all know where Moyes prefers him, behind the striker. We'd be wasting him as a central midfielder.

Well I'm frigged if I know how we can get him to play well. I think he's crap everywhere atm, but showed more promise when further back, rather than just laying off backwards, like you said. To be honest I think if he really can't play we should sell up.

If we keep this up Everton would be a force to be reconed with.

Yes ok, we'll have someone at 5 ft 7 behind our strikers when we play on the flanks..

You Sir, are a idiot

Know sur. eye fink it iss u vat is de idiot.

Someone that plays behind the stiker isn't a target man. It is someone that links up play. He is perfect for that!

By the way, try to keep a modicum of decorum please. No need for name calling is there now?(y)
