Hmmmm - i vote defensive midfeilder:

"He has that ability to adapt," Moyes added. "He can do a couple of jobs and do them well.

"Hes given us that steadying influence. Hes gone quietly about his job and done very well. He came in at a difficult time for us.

"When he joined I thought the best way would be to settle him in midfield, to introduce him to the Premier League from there.

"He had a couple of very good games there but then had to move back because of injuries to other players.

"Its one of those decisions now where we might use him as a holding midfielder in some games while in others we could also play him at centre-back."

Seems to be the conventional wisdom mate, personaly i dont think he will start in central defence, could be wrong like.

But surely by the time he is up to match fitness Fellaini will be as well, and surely he will be preferred as the dm?

Moyes might prefer Jags/Distin at cb but we can't keep a world cup finialist on the bench can we?

Tough decision.

Even fit i dont think he would start him at centre half mate - just my opinion - could be wrong.

I dont think there will be a definitive starting 11 this season and the compitition if feirce in there, Jonny has the tools to be a far better midfeilder then a centre half for me. I think its possible to have various systems and not stick rigidly to one, if Coleman starts with Baines Moyes may want to deep midfeilders and it was in vougue in the world cup its an ooption. But then comes the next question!

Yeah you're right, we don't have an actuall best XI, so many players and formations can be chopped and changed all providing a quality team.

For me he's more needed in defence (did he play there for Hollond in the WC?) than midfield so will make most of his appearances there.

I like your 2 attacking full backs with 2 destroyers idea but i can't see Moyes using it.
