The Joel Robles Fanboy Thread.

OK, our lack of clean sheets may have been a combination of Howard and the incontinent Distin, and Joel has a young and regular Stones instead to keep those sheets crisply white, but Joel is only going to get better as long as he plays, and his lapses (like coming out to meet Sterling) don't tend to lead to goals. Furthermore, keeping the opposition out builds confidence that could be damaged if a keeper with a shaky recent history returns to the starting XI.

So I say Robles has to be considered number one choice for as long as the defence performs as well as it has been. He was Bob's signing after all, so it's time for Bob to do a Tammy, and stand by his man.

Our team needs continuity atm. the team is just now adjusting to robles and vice-versa. Disrupting this balance can only be negative at this point. Robles is looking leagues better than howard has ever been.

Some of our american fans on facebook need to take off the red white and blue glasses.

Howard was awful early this season. So many savable shots went in, especially near post. The one that still annoys me the most is the Gerrard free kick. It was like something I'd send in to warm a goalie up and get his legs loose.

Well atleast the red part.

I love our American fans, but can't we just share our mutual love and appreciation for Brian McBride and Landon Donovan?

Hell I'd have Landon back now. Loved the guy. But I really can't stand Timmy Tourettes.

I am terrified of Howard coming straight back into the side. I will breathe an almighty sigh of relief as soon as I see his name listed among the substitutes when he's back fully fit

Sounds like Howard will come straight back into the team judging from Martinez' press conference...

.. little bit worried, 3 clean sheets on the spin with Joel

Very dissapointing for Joel if Howard comes straight back in.

Joel hadn't done anything to deserve being dropped.

It's so so so so so so wrong for Howard to come back in. For so many reasons.

It sends a horrible message out to anyone not in the first team. Come in, do well, get dropped as soon as the favourite is back. Where is the incentive to do well? Robles may as well have let in 45 goals. Would have made no difference to him.

Not only that, Howard will have pressure on him to do well. That could be good or bad, depends how he reacts.

I don't get it.

It will be a disgrace and send out totally the wrong message if Howard comes straight back in.

For me Robles doesn't inspire confidence but he hasn't done too much wrong in the last few games whereas Timmy has been cack this season.

If that's definitely the case and he's dropping Joel then I have no sympathy for any abuse that he's on the end of. I'm happy to give him time to turn it around, but some of his tactical decisions and favouritism to certain players makes it quite hard sometimes.

Joel has bedded in well, I'm still not convinced by him but I've got more faith in him than that star jumping clown.
