At least he tries to catch it sometimes... I was at the Emirates last year for the FA Cup.

Thank jeezus he tries to catch it these days.

Was well pleased with him tonight.

Commanding his area, speaking to his defence (YES!!!!!) and looked like a man growing in confidence.

I've said it before but he kept de gea out of all the Spanish teams and played 1st team football at Atletico as a teenager. De Gea looked awful when he first came to the country (by no means am I saying Joel will turnout the same way) but it's only fair we give him time to settle and hopefully he can cement a place and stop the 'immediate' need for a new GK.

He's young, get behind him and let him fulfil his potential here. It's about time we replaced Howard anyway.

Forza Joel Robles.

I got this wrong myself as @joey_macmo says, it was roberto who was number 2 choice behind asenjo and some other experienced keeper (leo franco i think) at various times, although robles may well of kept de gea out of the national under .... sides. De Gea was supposed to leave atletico before a managerial change saved him, there is no doubt de gea was the receipient of some good fortune when atletico changed coaches.

I used to think Robles was terrible and was gutted when Howard got injured because I thought Robles would ruin every game for us. There are times when I like being wrong about things. This is one of them.

There is talk of Howard being fit in time for the Derby game. Do we stick with Robles or not. Bet RM will pick Howard if fit.

Has to be Joel.

If Howard had been having a good season prior to his injury there might have been a case for bringing him straight back in but the injury gave Bobby the cover to what I think he has been wanting to do since the Palace home game......leave Tim out and give Joel a run of games.

So far the kid has done a splendid job and if keeps going in this vein the shirt is his to lose, IMO.

He's been getting better and better every game. I was hoping that a run of games will build up his confidence and it's done just that. Sometimes I'm sh*tting myself when he's farting around with the ball when he's got a player running onto him and nearly costs us a goal with a silly short pass but that will all come out of him with experience. He deserves to start in the derby ahead of Howard.
