The Jermaine Beckford Prediction Thread!

Looks a bit shocked at times that he's getting such good service.

He will be fine tuned in time, took a great goal today, really like the guy!

Hoping to see him and Saha link up ala Preston though, yowza!

Hit the nail on the head there. He's not always on the same wavelength because he's not used to the kind of quality vision and passing we have. As soon as he starts to expect it, well, maybe we can expect big things from him.

He really impressed me tonight and rightfully won man of the match.

His pace is fantastic, coupled with his work rate he was a massive pain to the defence of Everton Chile. You can see the players trying the ball over the top for midfield and certainly more impressive was him being played into the channels, he done this well and got to the ball first most times.

You can see him trying on his hold up play, and he impressed me with this tonight, once he gets Premiership sharp its something I was expecting him to have but he linked the play up well a few times.

Best thing about him is his hunger for the goals, he's always in a position to hurt the defence and extremely positive for any balls played into the box. Took his goal well.

Early days and will have to see how he fares against Prem opposition but he stood out for me tonight. He's going to be a great option to have initially from the bench and then who knows?

I think he'll start against Blackburn. Saha is a boss sub. Why isn't Yakubu being named in the squads for these friendlies? Is it just extended leave after the World Cup?

First time I've seen him in the flesh and I was impressed, decent hold up play, nice goal but his movement was the most impressive thing, he was always playing off the last defender and looking to run in behind Everton Chile's defence. A real livewire performance and even without the goals, this area of his game will be very useful to us, he can turn a average pass into a good one because he's got pace in abundance. It's early days but his last three performances have been promising.

I thought he looked good as well. Even if he turns out to be [Poor language removed], he's like an older, fitter version of James Vaughan and there's nothing wrong with that at all. Fantastic option to have.

What was going on with that big lad for Chile with his little ratty by the way, strange one.

10 goals all in!

Finishes as our top striker.

Not a bad result considering the amount of games he actually started/minutes on the pitch.

Im very pleased with his first season, i think he deserves a starting chance.

I reckon about 8, but hardly any of them will be match-winners.
I meant in the league.

I can only remember 7 of Beckford's goals (Chelsea x 2, Sunderland x 2, Liverpool, Bolton, Blackpool) but of those, only the Blackpool strike wasn't crucial in getting us points.

Boss return for a freebie that you know, especially given how limited his opportunities were for large parts of the season.

First full season analysis.

Andy Johnson = £8.6m

12 goals.

James Beattie = £6m

11 goals.

Jermaine Beckford = NOUT

10 goals.

Stop dithering and play him in a 4-4-2 more often and you'll get 15, made up for him.

Header Vs Wolves away!

Worth noteing his starts and minutes on the pitch, would be interesting to see him start and play a full season. We're banging on about a 15 - 20 goal a season striker we may already have one. He has scored a mix of goals, from headers, tap ins, sublime strikes, running on to the ball, to beating players to score.

Oh aye, that was a winner an' all. He's a bit tasty is Jermain.
