Yes, Welton and a few other Weller fans on here. Went to see him a few years back for the Catch Flame tour in a local nightclub.

Never saw them live in their prime for some reason - sadly. My blurry memories of those days do seem to involve Stiff Little Fingers, XTC, X-Ray Spex and The Slits, however, and one of those big Rock Against Racism things (see "Rude Boy").

The Girl on the Phone, an English Rose (well a Kirkby girl) is Precious to me, until she goes Shopping. Still, Happy Together.

Evening Toffees

Sure there must be a few Jam Fans on here

Just listening to all Mod Cons and it got me thinking about some of the gigs I had been to

Probabvly one of the best ever was the Benefit Concert 'March Against unemployment' gig in 1981 at the Royal Court Theatre from what I remember it was a ***** amazing gig

Anyone else there ( Older fraternity obviously) (y)

1= Bought it in Crease's Records, County Rd - not 100 yards from Goodison - ; Xmas 79 . Outstanding album . Artwork inside was boss , too .
2= I was there .
3= Played Man in the Corner Shop this very morning .
Weird .

Weird this thread popping up now cos I've been almost anally going through their back catalogue this past week or so! But yes Jamo is correct, massive fan here. Weller is my hero and The Jam are my favourite band. VERY jealous of all you old gits who got to see them live :P Been lucky enough to see Weller 3 times though including at my uni last term, which was the best night of my life bar none! Really want to go down to London to see one of his Royal Albert Hall gigs in May, going to have to wait and see how the student loan holds up til easter though!

My Uncle first got me into Weller and he went to see The Jam on quite a few occasions. Favourite album is probably All Mod Cons but I love all of them (even This Is The Modern World which I believe got ripped by critics at the time?!). Got all The Jam and Weller solo albums on CD, can't wait for his new one in April. Bruce Foxton plays bass on a couple of tracks which should be good! My bedroom at home is like a shrine to Mr. Weller, legend!

Worth checking out from the Jam

Awesome I know Weller isnt in the line up but I have seen em twice and they were awesome

So was I mate awesome

I say this as a Manc but the Royal Court beat the Apollo hands down for atmosphere and everything

The Jam always put Liverpool as one of their favourite venues as well because of the atmosphere(y)

Granted , kid .
Still , as we're giving credit , I was also recalling , this very morn' , one of my top 3 gigs of all time ;
Stone Roses - Second Coming Tour - Royal Court ; October '94 .
Simply outstanding . I went to Spike Island , and had seen them before , but by then they were boss musicians , esp' John Power .
Had a doob with Manny outside - told him so when having a doobie outside with him at Primals gig , same gaff four years later - .
They were imperious . I had a fat bag of sticky-icky . It was heaven . No [Poor language removed] .
The atmos' that night was tangible . Arl arses , mostly .

Also went to Bingley Hall with The Jam . Chaos . Boss , but chaos .
