The Inevitable Return Of Wayne Rooney

I was at the Arsenal game, the fans showed him support, support which he ignored, he then basically watched as Arsenal score 6, he didnt put in 1 tackle all game and watched as Arsenal tore us apart.

If you think any differently, then may god have mercy on your eyes.

So was I. You think a player is going to turn down the chance of winning cups and leagues because he got a half hearted sing song?

I wouldn't be one bit surprised if we couldn't even sign Steven Pienaar this summer never mind one of the worlds great's before hes on the slide, this is Everton under Kenwright we're talking about, I can't see Fergie giving him to us on loan can you....

Look it's possible he won't come back. Wouldn't shock me. However, LCAB and Fox are pretty firm on this, and Foxy for sure knows members of the family, and possibly even the man himself (although I don't want to put words in his mouth, but if he did he probably wouldn't come out and say THAT).

Here's what we know...Rooney has been actively trying to get back in the good graces of Evertonians for a couple of years now...started with the articles in the Echo a few years back talking about how he's still an Evertonian, and apparently burying the hatchet with Moyes publicly, and he is pretty consistent in his public comments (press, Twitter) about still being an Evertonian and raising his son to be one as well. He even showed up at the FA Cup final against Chelsea in blue with his family. I can imagine that annoys United fans a bit, so why do it? There's only two explanations...1) it's true and legit - he really is, and will always be an Evertonian, and 2) he's laying the groundwork for a return and he knows he's got fences to mend that won't be mended with one surprise announcement. Or BOTH.

So you can sit here and say it will never happen, but the tea leaves suggest that's what happening, and it's being confirmed by 2 people seriously ITK. Can things change? Absolutely. But it's way more likely to happen than not based on all of the above.

Pretty much this.

Nothing in life is ever certain, but based on the info we currently have and the things Rooney has said (like his aim being to become United's top goalscorer) it's on, imo.

With respect to the ITKs, I don't see Rooney coming back and definitely not in a part owner capacity (wasn't sure if that was serious). There are way to many parties at the top tier of world football who have a stake in him staying right at the very top. He may want to but I doubt he has as much control over his footballing future as most like to think. It's a big business/agents game and for the moment we are not in the same league and I can't see that changing in the next 3 to 5 years.
As for Lescott, He definitely left for the money but also the lure of winning something and playing right at the very top. Yea he hung us out to dry against Arsenal but he's not an Evertonian, He's just a modern footballer. I expected noting less and don't hold a grudge. Pienaar was at the same carry on, agitating for a move, alright, not to the same extent but the sentiment was there and now everyone loves him. Football is a fickle game and Rooney is no different to any of the rest of them.

Would be delighted to have him back, all the right noises are being made, if we got him before he was 32 we'd still get at least 3 years out of him.

So to confirm, you think Fox and LCAB are both wrong ?
I appreciate the information they give but this is in the realms of fantasy mate.
So a couple of Pikey Rooneys have been spouting down the pub, means nothing to me.
Be great if it happened mind, I'd be glad to eat my words.
