The Inevitable Return Of Wayne Rooney

What do you expect him to do, carry a crucifix from Old Trafford to Goodison and string himself up on it ? Say 20 Hail Mary's through the Goodison PA system ?

Yes, i do. It just proves what a mockery of "supporting" a club really means.

I'd like him to visit St Luke's in the corner of Goodison and ask for forgiveness and show some real contrition from him.

i.e. show he's not bigger than Everton and that he genuinely is sorry for his past misdeeds.

Until then. No. No forgiveness here.

So to bring this thread around full circle so that it is actually on topic:

I, and i believe the vast majority of Everton fans, don't care about Wayne Rooney's sexual experiences with women of the night. I and many others don't think that impacts his ability to play football at all and unless a direct link between his playing ability and his sexual deviance can be found it's totally irrelevant. Then there's the fact that he has a wife and kid and is a far more mature character than he was when he was just 23 years of age. One yellow card all season is a testament to that.

What if he's an atheist ? Or do you have to be a Christian to play for Everton ?

It won't mean Rooney'll spontaneously combust if he walks into St Luke's and apologises for his atrocious behaviour to Everton and its fans. Including the ones buried there who he disappointed so much in 2004 and subsequently.

I don't think we need to bring religion into it Matt.

We know he's a massive blue, and maybe if he does re-join us, he can re-earn your loyalty back then by scoring goals.

I think you'll find that asking a non-Christian to say prayers inside a church is inherently offensive to many. You have just highlighted your ignorance regarding religious matters and should no longer speak on this topic.
