A lot of extreme negativity in the match day as the mighty Blues closed out their 4th win in 5 games to make it 13 points from 15 available.
But I would argue that across the last handful of games we have seen a vast improvement in our 'game management' - doing just enough required to get the necessary result. Even against Swansea, a Coleman aberration aside, you could see that the most important thing was to remain unbeaten during the run.
What we could have done there was take off McCarthy and Barry, put Naismith and Lukaku on and go nuts with a Barkley / Kone / Lukaku / Lennon / Naismith axis of terror, but against a 10 man Burnley, what truly is the point? We've let Lukaku stretch out his hamstring in the summer sun and cruised through the second half.
I'm heartened by a return of Everton performances with a bit of maturity to them. If we go ahead against United on the 26th, expect more of the same - and rightly so.
