We were in for Alan Smith? As in, the Alan Smith who was a potent striker for Arsenal? When was this? Was it towards the end of his career or when he was slotting them away on a regular basis?

I remember being on Kipper the night that fell apart, I think it was a quote from Ian Ross: 'We... seem to have been stitched up', as young Manuel quite literally left Goodison for a flight to Valencia. Mental, absolutely mental. The fallout was colossal, from memory.

Never really got much of a game at Valencia, seems to have kicked on a bit in Turkey, but I've no idea, really.

I was actually talking to Manny the night he pissed off. In fact I even helped his agent ( or could have been a minder ) reverse there car out of the Marriott hotel and watch them zoom off into the night. I obviously didn't know he was ****ing off at the time, and that evening I spoke to him a few times and saying are u looking forward to signing for us and/we r a great club/your a top player/did he enjoy the match ( think we played Blackburn at home that day ) etc etc he just kept smiling and nodding his head. What a ****er. Would have reversed him straight into a brick wall if I knew where they were going.
