I agree with you Stend that Mucha didn't look too promising against Wigan as he was rooted to the spot for the goals, but I don't think that Howard (whilst being the better keeper) would have changed much. We might have lost 2-0 rather than 3-0 but the game was lost by the ten outfield players and manager rather than a second rate goalkeeper.

Well said

How much do you think clubs will be prepared to pay for him?

It depends where he wants to go. If it's PSG or a Russian club then I think £30m+ is possible, but I wouldn't expect Barcelona, Real Madrid or Man United to take the bidding any higher than £18-20m. Chelsea will pay anything for a player Abramovic likes on Fifa, but I'm not sure Fellaini would fall into that bracket.

For me the diffence is that moyes used to want the job now it seems he might take it if nobody else wants him, I'm not convinced that's the right message .

Disagree slightly on this sheeds....I've always been of the view that behind the scenes DM has put pressure on BK and the Board but supported them outwardly. I think lack of support for him in January when we had a brilliant opportunity to 'push on' has left him to tighten the screw a few notches. I think he definitely wants to move us on.
Totally agree with the OP....great foundation, options ref selling and investing and personally I'd like to see DM at the helm.....the problem is the business end of Everton..."run like a corner shop" to coin a phrase.

Dont think ageing is a problem except for re-sale value. Distin looks amazing every week and still is lightning quick, Jags is quality too.

I think Neville should hang his boots up in the summer though, its just time sadly.

I can see your point, and youre right about jags and distan, but with older players they're a bit like a ticking time bomb.

Is a manager who needs money for new players to motivate his squad the right man for a club with no money?

If that was the case why would he paint himself into a corner like this ? If he's prepared to quit over it then why not manoeuvre himself where he maintains the moral high ground ? This is hurting moyes reputation I think the idea he'd do that or us just isn't likely for me , personally I don't think I've even heard one rumour from anybody in footy that that's the case .

I honestly think this is just blues trying to salvage a bit of pride, obviously though it's all about opinions

I think bill is in a strong position, he is hated already and has players that are older and favoured by the manager who is also on high wages, he could bring in an interim manager who we don't like and use him as a scape goat to get rid of a lot of the expensive and older favoured players and start a rebuilding with the younger players coupled with some of the first team pros that would be kept on like baines, jags, jelavic, vic, coleman, mirallas, piennar, gibson. We could have a rebuilding it might seem like a gamble but high wages gone extra money in experience and youth together, debt reduced and few new players. If results are going bad the interim manager takes the brunt and bk is seen to have attempted to do something in the interests of the club rather than doing nothing.

I see your point and I almost wish it were true.

Let's assume that we did try to rebuild by letting older players on higher wages go and we manage to bring in some younger players with potential and get them on lower wages.

Once those young players start to gel and play well, the larger or richer clubs will come sniffing around. We then end up paying those same players a lot more money to stay or we end up as a feeder club to the richer guys. Which is of course exactly what has been happening at Goodison for the last few years......net result is that nothing has changed....it's just the start of another five year cycle, the same as the last one and the one before that.

It's not incorrect nor is it a fact. However Howard has more respect and obviously communicates a lot better than Mucha. Without doing anything awful YET! Mucha is dodgy as...

To be fair mate, one of Howards major failings for me, is that he just doesn't communicate enough. He doesn't boss his area, not even a little bit.

When he got clattered against Oldham, a lad near me just said, "well, that's him not coming to claim it for another 3 years". I'll be honest and say that sometimes, while Howard is, overall a better keaper than Mucha, Mucha seems at times to be more alert while the ball is i the oppositions half and more willing to claim crosses.

A poor season from Howard this, if he hadn't have went and broke his back we'd be going to wembley.

Oh FFS, take Neville Southall, at his best, stick him in the goals last saturday and we'd still be out of the cup, no doubt.

I agree that Howard is better than Mucha but that he might not have made too much difference on Saturday. However, Big Nev was just a completely different class to anyone else and I doubt any of Wigan's goals would have gone past him.

I think Saturday will prove how much we need Howard. Mucha is going to see a fair bit of the ball. I'm expecting a disaster. I hope I'm wrong

Think you're being overly harsh on Mucha.

He's not great and odds are he will let a few in this weekend.

So would Howard though.
