Because we criticise one player who didn’t have a World Cup? Get a grip mate.

Along with Dele & Harry. People seem to have conveniently forgotten the dozens of posts on GOT bemoaning the fact EFC didn't sign Dier when you had the chance. Not that football fans (Spurs included) are fickle or anything.

Ha ha. I wondered how long it would be before it was all Tottenham's fault. I could have predicted that with 100% certainty (EFC seemingly have at least that one thing in common with the RS/Woolwich).
If you cant get ahead of henderson for a CM spot there really isn't much down for you, doesn't look like a midfielder to me or he is carrying an injury, very very poor showing

Go back to the aforementioned GOT posts, a few Toffees here many need to re-evaluate their opinions.

I think the better team won last night.

However, I do believe that with this England team we have most of the blocks in place to strongly challenge at the next Euro's. There are a few areas that need improving but Gareth will have noted this and will be amending it ready for our game against Spain on 8th September.

Gareth will have noted this and will be amending it. Well, our problems were showing up in qualifying, yet Southgate kept playing the same team and same tactics. In most games, we dominated first-half and disappeared second-half. Our midfield was awful, Ali (particularly) and Lingard are not up to it. If Southgate noted our problems, he decided not to do anything about them in the World Cup. Putting Rashford on for extra-time was a poor decision. It should have been Vardy, who only got 10 minutes and when it was too late. Vardy has more pace than Rashford, and he can head the ball which Rashford can't. The only advantage Rashford has over Vardy is his close control which is negated when you are marked by three defenders.

Kane got the 'looks to be carrying an injury' treatment from ITV last night.

Another who can't be criticised.

For all last night's disappointment and anguish, this manager and this team have achieved something that many thought impossible: they have reconnected with the fans, and for many have made international football and following England no longer something to be hidden and kept secret but rather embraced and celebrated, they have made it all matter again.

Noone really thought England could or would be involved so long and yet they were perhaps within a more clinical Harry Kane finish of the final.

The planning is working, a more progressive, positive style has emerged, younger age group teams showed the way and now the promise of a brighter future lies ahead.

I don’t understand people criticising Kane, he’s our only world class player. Alli and Dier were incredibly poor in the World Cup and Alli shouldn’t have been starting imo.

We need a player who can do that though as well.

You can't teach that. It's a skill that players either have or don't.

And it's why those players cost £50m, £60m, £70m in club football.

The likes of Dowell, Maddison, maybe they could be the next one. Winks at Spurs, although I think he's more of a dogged hassler, but he can certainly act as a 'metronome' in the middle. Barkley should have been the one in that role in this tournament. For a variety of reasons, he wasn't.

In terms of deeper midfield passers we have Winks as you say and Lewis Cook. Further up in addition to Dowell and Maddison the likes of Foden, Mount etc have potential. Then you've got Sancho and Sessegnon too. I think for the future there's reason for optimism that we might have a team capable of being regular quaerter finalists again in future. And from that base a bit of luck can take you further.

I thought the midfield was by far our biggest weakness in this tournament. Alli and Lingard are good players but not the type to help you get control of a game. And despite having a decent tournament by his standards Henderson is not good enough to do that either. I think last night was the first game where we couldn't play through the press and resorted to long balls and I think that's because the midfield went missing.
