Greatest living Evertonian wants the best for Everton. Not that surprising when you look at it in that context.

I hope Howard follows through and turns up today. I'm sure the board, Elstone and Ross will have been trying to bend his ear not to attend...or, failing that, to say something that can be spun as an affirmation of the current owners and their continued ownership.

TBH i'm surprised he is associated with this, clearly a split in the fan base and i cant see how it serves his profile or interest - i suppose context is important though sounds like hes going as a favour to reminisce rather than an overall show of support. I dont blame you for thinking he may not show, i'd be worried too after he has a think.

I doubt we'll see pyrotechnics against the board. But even if he's there and just giving his standard after-dinner speech, it means he gives tacit support to the BU and their objectives. Let's not try and talk down the significance of this. Howard wont be that desperate for a few bob. And it wont cause a split in the fanbase if he attends...HK is HK: the most successful manager in the club's history and a living legend. He'll remain top dog for everyone.

The tacit support thing will defo apply, should say a lot about the BU and HK how this actually plays out.

So hes getting paid for being there! Thats a different gig all together really isnt it.

As for a split, there already is one there, it would be advisable to HK to keep out of it - very sad if he needs this type of gig.

That said despite being announced i would be surprised if he is there - i wouldnt be surprised if he was led down the garden path here, if i was the BU i wouldnt have announced it.

Sound a little bit bitter their Neiller, your not just a bit gutted are you that Mr Everton is on the side of the Blue Union , rather than trying to defend the impossible like you and ya chum Matt Damo , bitterness is not attractive fella not even on forums, he could find other events out there to talk about all things Everton , he hasn't he's chose this one, so he's obviously 100% behind the group stop coming up with reasons why he's going , just hold your hands up and say " hey it looks like the fella who actually is the main reason why Iam proud to be a toff is backing the group rather than saying " oh he'll be led down the garden path " he's going and that's that , Get over it Kenwright Jnr

I dont know whether he'll be paid to attend or not, I was referring to the club event gravy train possibly running out.

There's isn't a split in the fanbase over making Everton competitive again, that's why it's non-controversial if Howard attends this. It's significance wont be for fans, it'll be for the board. His attendance there would be a blow to their attempts to demonise the BU and marginalise them.

I think it is controversial really, why else would KEIOC/BU be pushing the planned attendance, lets be honest here the implicit message is "Howard supports us" and you have already mentioned tacit support. The split is clearly on method though isnt it, its a bit simplistic to say just "competitive" - circa DK etc.

So if he doesnt attend, will this be a signal that the KEIOC/BU has been misleading somehow i dont think you will come to that rationale somehow.

TBH i think Howard is mad going to this (if).

So to clarify mate, your not a fan of the board lol!

And Breath!

Isn't Kendall on the after dinner circuit anyway like? Seems a bit cheap to proudly proclaim his support before he's even spoken.

If Howard attends - great; if he doesn't then that's a blow to the BU, but in my eyes he'll still be the greatest living Evertonian...and he would be even if he came out and backed the board. The feller's untouchable.

Such broad "other" categories are not unusual, nor illegal so I hope they have proof of any wrong doing rather than the wink, wink nod nod going on.

No-one's said the accounting category itself is unusual, illegal, or that there's wrongdoing going on......what is unusual is the steep rise from £5M to £24M over a few years and that Kenwright (albeit clearly stoned during the interview in question) reckons he doesn't know what they are.

Prediction: HK won't attend, club come out and say "Even our greatest manager ever won't attend" Spin, publicity stunt

I'm sure he'll say stuff that'll be seized on by all sides...if he chooses to attend. But this is a specific event in aid of filling the coffers of an organisation that opposes the status quo at Everton - to imply that HK wont know that is crass.

Not so much won't know but sees himself as a neutral party. They're always moaning about the club and associated figures not treating them like a proper supporters group, maybe its because when they do like HK they are instantly pigeon-holed into their camp.

Hearing on twitter that Colin Fitzpatrick gave a presentation for the BU comparing Spurs with Everton, with suitable negative slant on Everton. why not just compare torquay's finances with Real Madrid?
