I've been saying it for a while, and your point has made it more clearer than ever: a Director of Football in charge of recruitment can be counter-productive, and has been for us so far. Moyes didn't need one.

Brands will fail if he doesn't secure a quality CB. If this season also fails we should ditch the DoF grand idea and go back to the manager deciding recruitment, supported by a team of scouts.

That's an interesting take on the issue I'd not considered. I'm not sure it's the DOF model per se that's the problem, more the previous incumbent and his relationship with Koeman. Martinez also brought a lot of poop and didn't address the looming full back issue either. It's a good point of debate though, perhaps worth a separate thread?

Maybe it's since Mosh arrived, that's since Feb 2016. He's the one who signs off monies spent, after all.

Kenny is a very good defender , not being used. I would drop Keane and play jags left cb and push seamus inside to play right cb and kenny moves to rb .

If we can get Mina signed up I would try everything to get Lacelles or Rojo in last minute and try get Keane out the door to a Newcastle / Cardiff type club.
