Sad to hear I remember watching him in black and white .....sad to hear Chester Barnes has died, aged 74. Former no1 table tennis player, he spent many years as Assistant to brilliant racehorse trainer, Martin Pipe. Chester Barnes was a real character.
Number one just before my time,Desmond Douglas then took over, he was allegedly quite a "character"Chester,RIP.....sad to hear Chester Barnes has died, aged 74. Quiet by all accounts?....that‘s sad news about Frank Worthington. So many talented players of those times who never really got recognition at international level (Hudson, Currie et al). I recall him being on the verge of signing for the Reds at one stage & there were lots of rumours why that deal fell through.
He was a talent & a character.
Frank Worthington RIP
That was one of those goals where you just HAD to applaud, impartial or not.If you look carefully at that clip, the referee is actually applauding as he runs back to the centre circle.
Exactly right. I would have loved him, and any of the others you mention, at Goodison. Though maybe not all together!....that‘s sad news about Frank Worthington. So many talented players of those times who never really got recognition at international level (Hudson, Currie. Bowles et al). I recall him being on the verge of signing for the Reds at one stage & there were lots of rumours why that deal fell through.
